Very cool thread. Fleetwood Mac is so smooth. Christine McVie's voice is captivating & soothing in a way that makes one feel good, not to mention the awesome lyrics, guitars & beards.

Don't know if this was posted before but its (IMO) the best performance to come out of the 70's and sums up everything about psychedelic rock. Do you have 24 minutes to spare? I know I do....

It's pretty brilliant songwriting. PF had a lot of brilliant sh#t in that era that gets looked over. I don't forget it.

F*#king brilliant and emotional. It actually touches you. PF crossed that barrier. One of the few bands that could do that. In my book, that is a mark of artistic brilliance.

There are others of this caliber.

You hit the nail on the head, and thats why I was drawn to Pink Floyd even though I was not around in their heyday. Something special that you don't just hear, you feel. One of those rare bands that brought spectactular talents on all instruments together with brilliant songwriting and progressive ideas. A once in a lifetime.

I remember smoking a joint with this old hippie dood in Tofino one night and we were listening to Meddle... he starts trying to explain what the music meant to him... he stops and looks over at me and smiles and says..."You... you get it.."

Heres another gem from a highly underrated Rory Gallagher, one of the best and often overlooked, artists of the 70's

Priceless moment in my life;

I have Meddle playing on my 'walkman' (1990's) and I'm going up a hill outside Cremourne, Australia (outside Sydney) on my Dad's bike. Guess what song comes up? 'Fearless', "you say the hill's to steep to climb..."

I will never forget this song and that moment. Serendipity, baby...

Turn that sh#t off!!

No really...Joe Cocker, Mad Dogs and Englishmen, Jethro Tull, Thick as a Brick, Jefferson Airplane "Have you seen the Stars tonight?" I spend a ton of time listening to pretty much anything from the early 70's.

Oh yeah, "Willin'" Little Feat [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrCMlSWlDX8&fmt=18]

thanks for the Rory Gallagher post. His first band was called Taste and was one of my favorite groups for a long time.
