Ken M wrote: This tendency of the blithering right to say that they have this mysterious "silent majority" that they represent, that they've never talked to, Is BS. They cite made-up polls and statistics (really popular right now on abortion, in an attempt to take away health care from women). Its disgusting.
God tell them...that is all they need.

Today I drove past a whine of protestors a picketing planned parenthhood, replete with placards that ppesumed to know the mind of god! My gut reaction was to yell,
"pay attention to your own life and soul, you're in hell right now!"
But I kept my cool and went on to celebrate life at my niece's play.

The shape of things to come?
Little Hoover Commission calls for California pension rollbacks
The independent state agency says in a report that state and local
governments cannot control mounting pension obligations without freezing
benefits for current workers and then lowering them for future years worked.

Politicians with good looks do better in elections...That must explain Sara Palin's success inspite of her ineptness...

Gingrich is completely correct.
Imagine that Governor Palin had become president," Gingrich said. "Imagine that she had announced that Roe versus Wade in her view was unconstitutional and therefore the United States government would no longer protect anyone's right to have an abortion because she personally had decided it should be changed. The news media would have gone crazy. The New York Times would have demanded her impeachment."

He was the last speaker to produce anything close to a rational budget.
Forced Klinton in to signing it too.

What is it that Bush called it when he didn't want to bother enforcing a law that congress had passed? He did it quite a lot - essentially his handlers' ideological argument was that executive privilege meant he could pretty much ignore congress when he felt like it. Pretty much ignoring the law, the constitution and precedent, not that that was anything new for that lawless bunch. Certainly the administration has a little leeway in terms of how it chooses to enforce the law, as Obama is now showing. The cavalier behaviour of Bush et al was in quite a different league.
Some might wish that Obama was a bit more, not less, willing to pick fights with the Republicans, especially the tea baggers. Lots of papered-over divisions there to work on. Plus strong leaders do sometimes have to stand on principle, however much they accomplish by negotiation and compromise.

Gingrich is the ultimate self-righteous poster boy for republican hypocrisy...impeaching clinton for having an affair and spending 70 million of the tax payers money to force Willy into admitting he had a blow job , then Gingrich having an affair himself and passing it off under the heading it' okay if Newt's doing it...Now it's gay marriage...? Does this mean Newt is heading for a same sex marriage...Why doesn't he just go away...He shelf life expired back in 95...

Uh, how could Gingrich threaten impeachment of Bush when he was not a Congressman?
When did Pelosi start impeachment proceedings?
