I'd bet a lot of us think about doing something like this but less than 1% have the skill, drive, money and smarts to pull it off.

1%? I'd say yer off by a factor of at least five decimal places, if not six. ;-)

How exactly did you attach that keel with the interior installed...?

Design leads to easy access to keel bolts with lifting the floor in the galley. Fabricated some 1/4 inch stainless backing plates several years ago and routered them into the mast step. Keel bolts go thru multiple laminations (24 inches total) of the mast step, frame, backbone and false keel stump before entering the lead keel where they are at alternating lengths between 36-64 inches long.

Just relaunched here in Kiwiland after 3 hectic weeks in the boat yard, yahoo another summer down under.

Wow! Guido you're the man. Where will you be spending your time this summer exactly? I forgot if it's Tassie or N.Z. Would love to see that boat some time.

Thanks-Wow-thanks
What I like is that you show what can be done if you got the guts to dream it.
I also liked that the Coast guard picked you up as you were drifting off to sea

One of my favorite threads too.. Adios..

Thanks Guido for putting in all the hard work to produce it. Living it must have been a blast. Thanks for taking us along on your journey.

It seems to me like RJ and Chris don't really value the effort put in to creating these threads, plus the historic value. Their scorched earth policy is pretty sad.

But of course the excuse is that the site is free and doesn't make money. They could have put up a "buy us a beer" link. I'm willing to bet many people would have. I certainly would have to help offset the cost of running the forum.

Guido! Thanks again for sharing so many great stories on ST. It's been great knowing you on this forum, but happily I now know you & many others that I have met here, in the outside world too.

Just read this again and submerged myself in all those fabulous photos.

It's always good to remember that dreams can come true...but they may take a hella lotta work.

Bon voyage, mi amigo!

Guido sent me his/her book describing this, and it was fascinating and beautiful. What a great build and what a great life spent on it!
