So Joey, you've been to Belgium and know about the french fries and mayo. Hard for me to conjure up ?! But hey, I can go with it. Maybe throw in a little mashed avocado too....

Locker, I like Yo alot. A much more relaxed form of life conversation....imho

Anyway, right now the best I can do is pray for some good climbing weather for the JTites. Peace, lynnie

I have a basic question for you J tree campers.

How difficult is it to get a campsite in Hidden vallley campground on monday or tuesday of thanksgiving week?
I'm not going this year, but I do have a friend who gets thanksgiving week off most years and I would love to take her to J Tree some year.

1. Guaranteed, hahahaha.
2. Easy,
3. Moderate,
4. Hard,
5. Impossible.

Do most of you go earlier or have someone go earlier? How much earlier. Friday?

Moderate,
You just need to keep makin the rounds in the AM till you find out whose takin off.
Also put out the word and folks are pretty good at helping you out!
I've had folks take me into thier camp more than once.
Lots of booze and firewood sure don't hurt either. ;)

John it's pretty hard, for HV campground. A site at Jumbo Rocks would be pretty sure though. On Tuesday anyway.

My group is fortunate enough to always have someone going early (the weekend before). This year, my buddy (C-Dog) has been down since last weekend!!!

We decided to do Jumbo though. We like it more there. Has a cool vibe.

Some of my favorite things (mostly involving eating and drinking) to do in Belgium besides see my friends:

1. Find a little super low-brow gauffre stand where the burned butter sugar coat is like the crust on a creme brule.

2. Eat pralines with fresh cream in them...made fresh that very morning...100g at a time.

3. Buy frites a la mayonaise (or better yet frites a la...one of the other zillion mayo-based sauces that they offer) out of a little roach coach by the train tracks somewhere and eat them with a pinky sized fork. Frite cart warning: filet americain = Raw beef in a mayo sauce.

4. Visit the citadels in Namur and Dinant. Find a quiet nook with a big view and write in your journal.

5. Spend a nuit blanche in Brussels listening to new jazz, eating away the next days hangover, and talking to new friends.

6. Go to the beach in Ostende when it's raining sideways and watch the elderly feed the birds.

7. Walk from Profondeville to Lustin via the Rue de Fonds and enjoy the ancient houses along the way. Stop at a little local cafe where you might actually run into someone who still speaks Wallon. Maybe. Stop in one of the shed-sized chapels along the way and light a candle.

8. If you haven't gained too much weight from the frites, gauffres, pralines, and beer, go cragging on the cliffs between Namur and Dinant.

9. In Namur take one of the many pietoniers (brick streets too narrow for cars) to the Place de la Marche aux Legumes on market day and get a drink at one of the outdoor cafes.

10. Try an Alexander Rodenbach (my favorite Belgian beer) and a Peket (a local liqueur) if you get the chance.

I could keep going. It's not surprising that I gained about 40 lbs. in my year there. I really need to pay another visit soon. Have a blast!

Jaybro, as always you the best for info and friendship.

Melissa, thanks for the Beta. Focusing on #'s 4,7, and 10.

I may try and "run it out" to find somewhere in Croatia and The Czech Republic to hang. Been to Zagreb....incredible place and incredible people and I'd like to revisit that wonderland. Not yet been to Czech Republic ...it would be a trip to visit there. Also, was one day in Budapest, Hungary and would like to spend some more time there also.

The great globe and all it's peoples are simply a spectacular trip. I hope I can make the most of my time on this earth. Peace always, lynnie
