If ya can't have a Merry Christmas anymore cusz it's against PC etiquette, and it seems to me the same should be held against Easter,
I suggest the following cheerful-but-hip-sounding greeting:
May the sensibilities of the current holiday of your choosing be with you BIG TIME!

A heat-felt thank you, Gene! It's warming up here in Middle Earth today.
I'll be heading out East Olive in a bit to spend the afternoon with Liz's grandchildren and her son Scott and his bride Jennifer.
This is big doings for me, as the link to them has been tenuous in the last many years since Zoe died. She lived next to the triplex owned by Liz's stepdad, Richard. When they were neighbors, I saw them often, as I was Zoe's regular afternoon Scrabble-playing/Bud-drinking partner. I suspect that Jen's sensibilities were offended by this lush aspect of her husband's stepdad's personality.
Be that the way, they have a place just east on East Olive Avenue, in the 1500s, while my folks' old place is in the 800s, a distance of a quarter-mile. I am in town, however, and this small geographic difference separated us. They had two boys when they moved out there from town. They now have added two girls. It's the day the Lord has made.
I have a bag of kiddie-litter (Mardi Gras beads, candy leis, and felt eggs and chili-flavored dried pineappple bits. And a 49er bear mascot who converts into a plush football. And the camera and tripod for timed family shots. And a container of old Liz & sisters & relatives snapshots. And neebee's promised painting of Scott and Mike and Liz.
I've told Scott about this, neebee, so it's not a surprise--if he knows, then Jen knows. But I want it to be a formal unveiling and will let Jen choose a special date for the kids to gawk and gasp and remember. This should be a fun afternoon.
It's odd that the Savior died on a cross, an omnidirectional symbol, because in Christ there is no east or west.

.... because in Christ there is no east or west.
True dat!
Methinks the pertinent axis of the cross is the one that points up.

Symbology, eh?
I've enjoyed the white hat all my life. So has Royal Robbins, for lots of his life. And so has Roy Rogers, King of the Cowboys, and his Queen of the West lady-wife, Dale Evans.
Now hasn't someone at least noticed the similarity between Royal and Roy lies not only in the color of the hat?
RR and RR.
Roy and Roy.
Roy Ro and Roy Ro.
Top-flight climber and top-flight singing cowboy.
Handy as heck with a rope.
Hung out with respectable partners.
Hung out around Chatsworth.
There are more, I just thought I would get that out there because it's doing no one any good if I keep these thoughts to myself.
And I'm reading Royal's My Life Vol. I, so I'm bound to have more to share. Like this--
The fantasy world of the Silver Screen had us firmly in its grip. Most of our money was spent on Saturday afternoons at the Hitching Post, a theater on Hollywood Boulevard specializing in western films. It was our church and those movies were our weekly spiritual food. The good guys, like Tom Mix and Roy Rogers, always won, and the endings were never sad. The sense of authenticity was heightened by the requirement that we check our toy guns and cap pistols at the door. Movies were 10 cents. A bag of popcorn, a necissity, cost five more precious pennies.--p. 87
As I grew up viewing western heroes like Davy Crockett and Wyatt Earp (two t's each) and soon had to cope with countless other white hats, like Lucas and Yuma (figurative white hats for Crockett and Yuma, OK?), due to the general lack of TV originality and the grossness of TV venality, I started reading more and more. I got into SciFi in the fourth and fifth grades, then took a chance with adventure books about the Himalayas and Alaska. It became open season on anything when Sister Justine started us out in eighth grade (I had just come to Merced-it was a new school at Our Lady of Mercy) by reading part of a book in the period after noon recess. The Pearl, Hiroshima, the story of the Bataan death march. I read The Incredible Journey and The Longest Walk both around this time for the first time each. Justine was "The Voice." A cattle car full of rowdy boys (42) and girls (only 12 or 13) settled down immediatlely. Who reads to the eighth grade anymore?
Liz told me once she had Roy on the brain, while her sister Betty Rose had Gene Autry as her ideal. Two very different girls, but alike in one thing, they had idols. There's a lot of truth to what Pulp Fiction claimed about there being two types of people in the world.
Neither type has a claim to the truth, as truth is relative.
Here's Lizzie, all in a twinkling, the apple of my eye.
I want more books, please.
And here is Scott with little Sophie, one apple of many, I think.
neebee, I'm having some eggs benedict in the morning. I'll make some for ya and I hope you don't mind de ketchup, de Hollandaise is soured. There's just Club Crackers and some three-week-old eggs, too, so it's kinda funky. There's lots of coffee, though.
The ham is a gift from Jen. De ice is melted. Have a brisk day and lots of sunshine. And a Blessed Mother of an Easter!

and will enjoy the yard of winter-melt-off...
we did get invited to see the kids at a gather last week to a pre-easter gather supper of sorts, at a church building (all step grandkids) (as the others are in south texas) and that was nice...
yep, my real family of kids have not much to do with me at all, no calls, letter, emails, and rarely a facebook hi...
so these folks here, are like my family, here, ... god is so good to give us, for what we lose...
so mouse, i sure understand, getting in tough with your family, and how
special that is! :)

My heart was missing Liz today.
I'm sure Gypsy has the same feelings.
I remember the good times and there were sad, trying times.
Love remained alive.

Glory be! It’s raining
After what seemed days of straining.
Ma Nature has us singing!
All around us, Spring is springing.
We had that bad moon a-risin. It was OK.
Let's try a good Son a-risin. It'll be perfect.
Welcome, Boy! Howdy! God love ya! I sure do!
And I still wonder, I still wonder,
"When will He stop the rain?"
"It doesn't really matter. I'm ready for the rain."
