Figure 32. Heavy downpours are increasing nationally, with especially large increases in the Midwest and Northeast.99 Despite considerable decadal-scale natural variability, indices such as this one based on 2-day precipitation totals exceeding a threshold for a 1-in-5-year occurrence exhibit a greater than normal occurrence of extreme events since 1991 in all U.S. regions except Alaska and Hawai‘i. Each bar represents that decade’s average, while the far right bar in each graph represents the average for the 12-year period of 2001-2012. Analysis is based on 726 long-term, quality-controlled station records. This figure is a regional expansion of the national index in Figure 2.16 of Chapter 2. (Figure source: updated from Kunkel et al. 201399).

Nice building, thanks for posting.

"All for profit". Yes most of us don't have the luxury of working in the navy, polluting and building sh#t every where in the name of a non-profit, protecting and fighting non-wars.

Dingus, extreme precipitation events are up, as the graph above shows.

Warmer air, more moisture. Simple physics.

Don't just look at hurricanes.

Biggest polluting machine in the world. "The US military is responsible for the most egregious and widespread pollution of the planet, yet this information and accompanying documentation goes almost entirely unreported. In spite of the evidence, the environmental impact of the US military goes largely unaddressed by environmental organizations and was not the focus of any discussions or proposed restrictions at the recent UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. This impact includes uninhibited use of fossil fuels, massive creation of greenhouse gases, and extensive release of radioactive and chemical contaminants into the air, water, and soil."

"The US Military is responsible for generation of over one-third of the county's toxic waste. Millions of acres of US Military property are being environmentally cleared for transfer to local communties. These environmental clearances are often completed with a total disregard for human health and the environment.

Finding Chemical Weapons
The US Army has been developing technologies to address Chemical Warfare Munitions when they are discovered on firing ranges or buried in disposal areas. The Non-Stockpile Chemical Weapons Citizens Coalition has been meeting with US Army representatives to ensure treatment technologies do not use the atmosphere for ultimate disposal. Alameda Pt. Naval Air Station
Interactive toxic maps have been developed for 1,700 acres of the closed Alameda Pt. Naval Air Station. The toxic maps put the results of 208 separate risk assessments at your fingertips.
Philippine Bases
Clark Air Force Base and Subic Naval Facility were abandoned by the US Military in the early 1990s. The toxic waste sites at these facilities are the source of health problems in surrounding communities. See what the People's Campaign for Base Cleanup is doing about this tradegy.

"War is said to be the ultimate cause of environmental destruction. The absolute devastation of the environment in combat has been proven by examples such as World War II, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, and the Iraq War. However, even in peacetime, military activity causes environmental destruction through the construction of facilities, everyday activities on base, and the preparation for war such as military training and maneuvers. Particularly in the case of the United States, the enormous military power that accounts for half of the world’s military expenditures, the destruction of the environment is appalling. For example, in Japan, the damage to nature that would accompany the construction of an alternative facility to Futenma Marine Corps Air Station in Okinawa will be accelerated and aircraft noise will damage the areas surrounding the bases. In the Korean community of Mehyang-ri, aerial bombing practice has caused severe environmental pollution. This essay will focus on the pollution of US bases in Asia in order to come to grips with the environmental problems caused by military activity. After investigating the pollution of US bases in Yokota (Japan), Okinawa and the Philippines, we will examine the principal conclusions that can be draw from those examples. Our purpose is to locate ways to resolve these military environmental problems."

Dude, I drilled way more than 2500 bolts.

Humans are pretty much f*#k up, I'm human so there you go. No free pass for me. Some do more damaged than others, your little military is the biggest offenders of them all.

WTF does Bob D ( the farmington pizza flipper?) know about climate change? Just another disaffected idiot sheepishly parroting the official progressive talking points. Stick to the rocks and your pizza toppings because in any other endeavor you're a freakish accident of nature looking for a place to happen
