Amateurs.
Sierra Nevada Summerfests. I don't know, a bunch of them. Made a batch of Salsa Verde tonight. My first batch. Was pretty good.....
Cheers.

khanom! Re your comment:

That looks like way too much fun
Edit: "suffer"fest? WTF?

There was an absolute "suffer-fest" moving all our rafting crap one mile to below the logjam. Portable shitter, dry-boxes, coolers, rafts, frames, oars, and all the shist rafters take down rivers.

You never think about the schist, until you have to carry it a mile or so.

Yeah, Fritz, but you guys were on it! Like real folks.
You didn't need no Forest Service Dynamite. Which is illegal, btw. If I did that in a Wilderness Area, I'd go to jail.
Lewis & Clark portaged, right?

Skully!

You are right!

I was all for a portage, as soon as we knew we were blocked by a logjam.

The majority of our party (the worthless fukers) didn't want to do that much suffering, and hoped the Forest Service would open our river.

Sigh!

I better have another drink.

This Middle Fork Salmon group is the best of the 2006 group------ and a new group of "tougher" rafters!

I'll drink to that!

Have fun on the river, Fritz.

I'm back here in the Great White North, where the weather is warm and the beer is cold.

Planning my next adventure - jammin' and cavin' in Kentucky in a coupla weeks. Woo-hoo!

I thought the whole affair was shameful. It made the local news....Rafters trapped! Certain Doom! Goddam Embarrassing.
I'm glad that someone still has some wherewithal. Or we ARE doomed.

Toastin', sir.(With good brew, even!!6!)

khanom - where have you paddled? I've done thousands and thousands of miles in the Great White North, and some of it was even paddling on water!

Ahhh, Rare Earth, now that was some classic Motown. Imagine James Brown and Rare Earth jammin' together with The String Cheese Incident boys playing back-up.

That would be totally green.

So I'm giving the Redemption a run over the tongue.

Grr, work keeps me out of the mountains this weekend and thus, I do what we all do, vent on the interwebz...!
