Bill O'Reilly is off to a good start this week, defending slavery in response to Michelle Obama's comment about waking up in a house every day that was built by slaves.
"Slaves that worked there were well-fed and had decent lodgings provided by the government, which stopped hiring slave labor in 1802. However, the feds did not forbid subcontractors from using slave labor. So, Michelle Obama is essentially correct in citing slaves as builders of the White House, but there were others working as well. Got it all? There will be a quiz."

Bill O'Reilly lecturing Michelle Obama is ridiculous, for sure.
First of all, none of that is reality- it's not going to occur as you imagine.
Turn off what ever crap media outlet is harping on this 24/7 and feeding you this stuff.
So when the media reports what Trump says that's obfuscation?

Why do people keep trying to dismiss as imaginary the things that Trump explicitly says he's going to do? I'm pretty sure the media has not invented the idea that he's wants to build a wall, profile/ban Muslims, forcibly deport millions of people, start a trade war with China, torch our military alliances in Europe and send global markets into turmoil by defaulting on American debt. Also he wants to blow a $10 trillion hole in the budget with a tax cut for the rich. This is all stuff he has said he wants to do, none of it out of context.
Consensus grows that Russia hacked the DNC.
American intelligence agencies have told the White House they now have “high confidence” that the Russian government was behind the theft of emails and documents from the Democratic National Committee, according to federal officials who have been briefed on the evidence.
But intelligence officials have cautioned that they are uncertain whether the electronic break-in at the committee’s computer systems was intended as fairly routine cyberespionage — of the kind the United States also conducts around the world — or as part of an effort to manipulate the 2016 presidential election.
The emails were released by WikiLeaks, whose founder, Julian Assange, has made it clear that he hoped to harm Hillary Clinton’s chances of winning the presidency. It is unclear how the documents made their way to the group. But a large sampling was published before the WikiLeaks release by several news organizations and someone who called himself “Guccifer 2.0,” who investigators now believe was an agent of the G.R.U., Russia’s military intelligence service.
The assessment by the intelligence community of Russian involvement in the D.N.C. hacking, which largely echoes the findings of private cybersecurity firms that have examined the electronic fingerprints left by the intruders, leaves President Obama and his national security aides with a difficult diplomatic and political decision: whether to publicly accuse the government of President Vladimir V. Putin of engineering the hacking.

I'm not sure but I'm guessing it is similar to people that get their hackles up when others call Bernie Sanders a socialist - which is a label he self-applied.

Trump proposed every one of those things.
Look it up.
You used to sound pretty sensible a few years back.

The only people who get their hackles up about Sanders being called a socialist are the actual socialists who like to point out that he isn't. I'm guessing that's similar to business people getting their hackles up about Trump calling himself an amazing businessman.

Why do the trolls feel the need to snipe at every post?
Does it make them feel superior to others?

Not reading walls of text to try to figure out how some guy ended up with his poor thinking. But this:
Everything has shifted - the right is now moderate and the left is utterly deranged
Is true in opposite-land, that place where everything is backwards and left is right, up is down. Probably the most demonstrably false and ridiculous political statement I've seen in some time (and I watched Trump's shitshow of a convention!)
I don't recall Bernie claiming to be a "socialist", I think he has always claimed to be an advocate for democratic socialism, which is a much different animal than straight up classical socialism.

We do need to globalize. If for no other reason than the fact that I can't help but feel I've got more in common with many Chinese, Russians, Iranians, Peruvians etc..... than I do with some of my fellow Americans. I hope the future somehow gets around to it.

Radical, i read the whole thing. given how far removed your perception of who i might be, from who i actually am and have been is, i'm only going to say the following...
given almost all of what you've projected onto me is completely and thoroughly mistaken, and ironically enough to the one question that you claimed "you already knew the answer to" you were 100% objectively and verifiably wrong, i have no choice but to respect your request:
"don't answer , I already know the answer."
and so i'll only say the following: i always enjoyed your trip reports around here... i hope you're doing well and all the best.
