Actually I would like to go tonight, but it would be
another visit to urgent care, caChing! I think this is
the worst it's been since the injury. I've taken everything
I can find, Ibuprophen, aspirin, oxycodone... nothing
touches this pain.

Pat,

I'm afraid I have to agree. If, after two weeks, things are not getting dramatically better--and may even be getting worse, you really need to get some treatment. Right away.

Yes I'm beginning to think you're right. This is
really miserable. I'm up at one a.m.
walking around trying to get the pain to
subside all around my knee. And that isn't
where the injury is, which makes me think
some kind of blood flow is blocked or the
swelling is blocking something, or the internal
bleeding is putting pressure on some key
nerve.

That ain' fun. Just did another all-nighter,
in a chair, awake. Today is my daughter Anna's
birthday. Gotta get to the doctor in and around
the festivities...

I am so sorry Pat.

Topically applied gel and 30X internal arnica montana would be REALLY beneficial at this point, as well.

Best wishes, Erik

Dr Wides sez, it's just a few short hours from Fruita to the Indian Creek sushi fest. Topical Wasabi cures any, and every thing.

Hey Oli,

Didn't realize this thread involved an injury- I hope you feel better and are getting the medical care you need.

OK, back from the doctor. I had feared the blood (internal
bleeding) was pooling in my knee and pinching off nerves and
other vessels, etc., because the pain has been fierce,
and the doctor confirmed my suspicion.
My knee, not even injured in the fall, is now about two, almost
three, times bigger than my good knee. She put on me a special
wrap that is designed to help prevent that passage of blood,
or at least it slows it down (my foot and heel and pure black,
along with most of the rest of the leg). When the urgent care
doctor said "massive internal bleeding," he wasn't kidding. But without
sleep for so long I am a real zombie now and too tired to say much
more. I need to sit down and try to close my eyes. Thanks everyone for
your concern.

Maybe what you need are leeches. I'm only half kidding. They have been used to treat edema resulting from frostbite.

You have a lot of damaged tissue. The integrity of the blood vessels is compromised. The blood is pooling and causing swelling.

In addition to the wrapping you need to keep that leg elevated as much as possible as this will aid in return of blood and lymph to the heart.

I feel your pain bro and wish you well.

I mean that almost literally cause I took a fall on PItch one of Zodiac on Oct 6. I figured it would just get better and climbed the dang route on one foot basically and hobbled down from the top.

Finally saw the doc yesterday and it turns out I have a ruptured achilles tendon! Surgery is Tuesday and I'll be in a cast for 6-8 weeks. ;-( The ruptured wallet is next! Probably no climbing until Spring....

I'll post a trip report sometime soon. Don't reply to my whining on this thread!

Heal well

Peace

Damn, Karl. I've heard that a ruptured achilles tendon is supposed to be painful as hell. You must have a wild pain threshold.
