Dirt, I checked in tonight on ST just to see how you were doing. Last posting has you in the ICU but doing OK. Hope you are doing well, and we all are looking for you to post something post op.

Yep, sure would be nice to know what's happening. Today could have been a little painful... hopefully modern medicine has Mr. Dirt resting peacefully as he recovers from the surgery.

We're all still keeping you in our thoughts and prayers ! :D

I called his house just a few minutes ago. The family is away at the 11:00 visit (20 minutes) per the housekeeper so no current news. As of last night his eyes were open and he appeared to be coming around. Sorry to be brief. Possibly JTM has mom's cell and can get more info. I will try to check back this afternoon and maybe catch someone at home.

RRK/JTM:
Probably good to stay in touch and coordinate your much appreciated efforts. Also think about our having a thread possessing only Dirtineye progress reports. No regular posts.

Thanks again,

Just got off the phone with his mom. It was a 4 hour operation and they got the bulk of the tumor - even some that they didn't think they would be able to remove. Her description of the various organs that have been trimmed, rerouted or removed was beyond my note-taking ability. His Dad called one of the procedures a "Whipple procedure". The docs seem to think that this has bought him at least one more year (hey, a lot can happen in a year).
According to his mom he's slowly getting better but very medicated. His vitals are good. He's in ICU and will be there probably through the weekend. He's actually been sitting in a chair today. Though cell phones are prohibited in ICU he's talked the nurse into bringing him one (boy I can just imagine that conversation). There is a lingering issue with infection (a significant problem in a prior surgery) but at this point all news is good news. I'm sure that he will post up once he gets out of ICU and has access to a laptop. If I hear anything else I'll let you know.
