MisterE the Linguist is a voice crying out from the wilderness of the Eastside, preaching on the banks of the Owens, doves standing by in the wings.

"Pave the way for cool modernisms."

And the word was made popular and dwelt among us.

OED, the bible, tells us so.

Remember to avoid the nastiffs and the plesiffs.
I doubt that you'll ever see either.
Nor a Yeti nor specters, neither.
Remember to take a wool sweater.
And I hope you enjoy some fine weather.

All the best in your winter mountains, Taco climbers.
Wish I could keep the f*#k up with you tigers.

MisterE, I must say that you have been on a roll recently! Man oh man!

dubiety: the state of being dubious

What? Is dubiousness not good enough for you.

People always gotta make up words

I miss the Queen's English, where everything was all proper and processed and analyzed to the nth degree, and if you were not on board then you were considered a peasant.

OK, so that last part, not so much - but you haughty intellectuals get the gist of what I am saying here!

Just to stay current with the new month, I propose:

kinship...a rather outdated word, but always relevant.

sphynx-like
s-finks-like

adjective

mysterious and not allowing people to know what you're thinking

"The Dubai Tea Girls just sat there, sphynx-like, while I made small talk that was all talk. One started purring..."

Cats are not so full of "mystery." They are layabouts and leeches.

syzygy: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/syzygy

Metaphorical usage in climbing contexts:

1) (astronomical) We climbed in a party of three; as a result of the syzygy, the middle climber eclipsed my opportunities for butt-shots of the leader.

2) (psychological) I was faced with the classic climbing syzygy: hardman on the sharp end crying like a little girl.

3) (mathematics) Here I come sharply upon the cliff giving way to the vast ocean of knowledge for which my prior studies and efforts have poorly prepared me. I got nothin'. I tried to understand what it means to have linear algebra over a ring versus a field as part of making sense of this, but a supertopo post isn't quite enough motivation for me to commit the resources necessary to gain this bit of knowledge.

4) (medical-zoological-genetic) When my belayer fell upon me, I wore an ass-hat; it was a perfect syzygy.
