Here, but will be there next week
Feb 15, 2008 - 03:33pm PT
Checked the schedule and I'm sorry to say I'm not going to be able to make it before June 28th. But, after that I'm off for a month and could maybe make the drive out for a later gathering if anyone would have me.

goatboy - Since this beta is 'in progress', I haven't released it to the community, just to certain folks to help the exploration/psyche...so check your email! Report back too if you feel inclined...If other attendees want to see it too, just pipe up and I'll send it your way...

HighGravity - thanks for letting us know one way or the other. As for later in the summer, if you want to come up, we'd be happy to join you.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it.

We're just starting so scratch the with this...hopefully by the time the bash rolls around, I'll have a more complete layer to share.

BTW those 'overviews' of Leggit, Clearcut, Cobbles, and Silverbox were just recon missions...no one to my knowledge has laid boot to stone at any of those places...yet.

by June these things will be 'Good to go'

If you find yourself "bored" after the pebble wrestlin' and rope gunnin', there's this smattering of short, wide crackies that look ripe for free soloin' adventurers.

A few weeks ago late in the afternoon, Mojede, the brother, and myself happened across a good concentration of good sized freestanding boulders. We were pretty psyched.

This one drew my eye the most...but I knew it would be a challenge...

The batholith rewarded our efforts with darkness, snow, and by getting us lost on the walk out(adding ~1.5 miles). Though that seems to happen when she shows off some of her goodness. A sort of balance...

Due to snow, we return two weeks later. We did a walk about and toured the area. There is much stone, but were soon drawn back to the magnet of the area...

...then somehow match and huck...though it hasn't happened yet...come and get it!

We then headed back to the trail, and I showed the fellers this thing...

and end up walking out in the dark...again.

Just another zone patiently waiting for the bash...

Cheers!

Sorry for the lack of overview photos, more to come in the future...

You’re going to need something more than Olympia beer to get up that.

Headquarters for the "Age of the Batholith" bash.
The Eastern center of the BB. Interstate 90 runs between the trees and the OW playground. Spire Rock is sunlit at upper right.

Just a teaser/bait photo that I shot hastily tonight trying to catck TK for a sesh.

Count me in on the possible list. My current BF is from Bozeman and his family still has a ranch back there. We were going to road trip back for a visit early in summer so this could be perfect timing.

Even though it's in June and I feel like I'd be cheating on Yosemite, the change of pace would be fun. :)

Pat, they were pretty happy. We gave Jeff a quick tour of the westside clusters too. Afterwards he said something along the lines of, "improving Butte bouldering by 100%"
So I guess we can a couple more believers to list...
Rad that Billy's meeting you out there...git sum kid!

Sorry we missed ya yesterday Hutch...I'll post some photos this afternoon hopefully...

Right on Fluoride! You'll have to hit the Gallatins as well since you'll be in Bozeman.

Cheers!

EDIT: Hutch, that shot was taken from above the highway looking over towards Tony's then eh? Any goods up on the bench in that area?

TK-

I have 3 or 4 anchors on some stuff above Tony's. Might also be a 5.12 or 5.13 40' face. Gave the route to Dwight for a birthday present (much cheaper that way) but he never got around to it.

I can show it to people sometime (the June gathering for sure).
Of course, we could give everyone who shows up there own project.

That is an AWESOME idea Kurt!

How fun would that be!?! Hutch and I have some possible locations as well. It doesn't seem too 'out there' to scope and prep 30 lines or so...

Fresh lines! Come and get it! Talk about incentive...
