formations, look like the Clavey in Tuolumne County.

Indianclimber - I had these photos of Fish VW van interior that were like that and I'm certain there's something "LA" about the whole thing - I saw an astroturf car and a bead covered car here in Boulder so it's isn't dead yet.
Oh, the photos - lost 'em. Big disaster way back.

These were all parked on a lot in Goldfield Nevada ,what a collection,Come to think of it the only other ones I have seen were on Melrose in LA

yeah, some kind of LA/pop/acidhead mix thing produced this type of art with a parallel influence coming from the SF Bay, Berkeley for sure.
