There is damage here and there all over NW Nevada. The thing is that the snowpack melted over frozen ground, penetrating mere inches, if at all, before rushing downhill. The soils have now melted partially, but are now saturated. I'm not saying that a 1862 like event is in the cards, but keep an eye out for Indian tribes relocating uphill to high ground.

It's been raining pretty steady all day here in Newcastle, and then at 8:30pm it decides to get serious about dumping! WTF? Hope this wave passes quickly! Right now I'm glad I live on top of a hill...

I lay down for a four hour nap without a flake on the ground and wake up to this. Will you guys please keep your sh#t down there in cali where it belongs! This is exactly why I left Chicago and NH. And let me f*#king guess, when this sh#t melts we'll undoubtedly be inundated by a biblical plague of mosquitos, black flies and horseflies.

The Valley is beautiful in the sleeting rain. I just wish the drainage was better in Camp 4.

There are now several Truckee sized rivers feeding Pyramid Lake. Pictured above is a twelve mile river (only flows all the way in flood events) that is responsible for one of the four washouts on SR446.

We're getting hammered in Colorado too.
Some ski resorts have had to close for a day or two due to too much snow.
Lots of avalanches blocking highways.
So far our snowpack is 150% above normal.

Johnny, looks like you could of used NV ENERGY'S brand new snow cat that cruised past my place today en route to Virginia Peak.

Weird that NVEnergy would use that road. They must have been inspecting the lines, as the other road is much better access.
