Anyone that would withold that they had some form of STD to a partner is evil. They should be taken out in public, and stoned to death, very slowly.

if this thread doesn't make complete sense over the last 20 posts or so, a certain female who knows pete personally posted, but later deleted, a bit of a rant on his personal behavior toward her- and after it was deleted, i edited (at her request) a few of my posts which refered to and repeated parts of her posts.

Sorry that this bumps the thread, but looks like it’s getting lots of traffic anyway. I am appalled to bump this ahead of Charlie’s thread. I’m sorry. I felt I am also in a unique position to comment on this diatribe thread, as a woman who has spent a total of a month round the clock with Pete yet was not ever sexually involved with him. And as a 39-year-old attractive woman who has endured decades of men’s constant sexual advances. And as a woman who is very sensitive to sexism, and has struggled hard against the extensive, commercialized objectification of women in this culture.
Pete fairly graciously accepted the answer “no,” given his level of sexual addictiveness. And still climbed with me again after that. That is more than MANY men I have known, both in and out of climbing. It is sad but true that SO many females have been coerced, date raped, and violently raped and assaulted, both as children (many boys, too), and as adult women. Men learn that if they are aggressive many times, some of those times they will get what they seek. Yes, Pete tries his schtick on just about every female… I do not condone this way of behaving. But sexism is not just damaging in overt actions (that can at least be easily criticized), but is maybe worse as a common thread woven in the fabric of our society that hurts women (and men and kids) in a myriad of ways everyday and in many unexpected places. Are the same people who are railing against Pete also publicly resisting less obvious examples of sexism all around them? Or is Pete merely a convenient scapegoat? Do you walk into a grocery store and tell a stranger who you see looking a Maxim magazine that he is promoting a narrow, highly objectified version of women’s attractiveness, and so is helping the vast majority of women feel less comfortable in their bodies and sexuality, contributing to body image disorders and self-image problems of woman nationwide? Hell no. Is it innocent and ok to repeatedly discuss and judge which women are the “hottest” on a climbing forum, but so totally reprehensible to tell them that to their faces or to try to get some action with as many of them as possible? Are you an activist for feminist and other justice issues in your community? Do you donate time or money to your beliefs?
[Criticism lecture on safe sex deleted by request]. As far as the strip club thing, I didn’t see the original post. But it is no secret that Pete prefers small breasts and small frames, if that’s what is meant by “teenage-looking.” So? If he preferred D’s is that better, then? I find it refreshing that a man prefers what is neglected by “men’s magazines” and the US media, yet nearly half of non-surgeried women have for breasts. To me that is no evidence that he is a child molester.
And I want to tell Janet that Pete had wonderful things to say about you, both as a warm personality he repeatedly said he valued, and as a “hottie” lover and sexual being. Still, I am sure he could unintentionally inflict great hurt on another’s heart. I am not blindly defending him in this post but pointing out possible hypocrisy, and also using the opportunity to grandstand somewhat about sexism in its many guises. How many of us are pure and innocent of any and all racism, sexism, ageism, etc etc etc. ? When we police our community we have to be careful not to play favorites, and also to police our selves first and foremost.
Re: the ME ME ME allegations… yeah, yeah, so? Can’t you all think of a couple prominent Supertopians whose posts scream ME ME ME ME? What is this, a witchhunt? I think many have learned a lot of good info from Pete’s posts, me included, and the fact that he has some attention issues is mostly irrelevant. Aren’t most music or media stars also ME ME ME, no? But yet they are idolized. If the “modest” climbers wanted to also spend hundreds of hours writing up their advice, I’d be delighted. But maybe their modesty sees little benefit in that allocation of their time.
Just wanted to stick up a little for my friend. He has enraged me and annoyed me, and yes, been sometimes creepy with his sexuality, but overall and for the most part has been a fine friend. He brings far, far too much stuff onto a wall, but enjoys himself immensely and sends the routes. There are a countless variety of jerks out there. And if I ruled everyone out for being one in some way or another, I wouldn’t have many acquaintances left in this world. Not even myself.

I'd like to hear your version of the story of the Muir Epic. It's no longer of interest to me for anyone else to hear it and believe it. I've heard it from both "Ted" and Tim (both are great friends) at great length but never heard your version (I'm sure it's mostly the same but still of interest to me). IF nothing else the fact that the story is so unbelievable makes me crack up (especially when "Ted" or Rob Zombie is recounting).
I've got three cases and a huge load of wood. Maybe we can crash "Ted's" campsite in JTree and relive a bit of history?
