Wrist Twister on Tantalus

One of several recent significant additions - Catharsis Crack by Marc-Andre Leclerc (FA aid solo, FFA Brette Harrington and Marc-Andre), later to become part of Labyrinth

http://squamishclimbingsource.com/labyrinth/

Catharsis Crack can be seen here in the lower left, coming in from the right to join the dyke of the 'first' pitch of Cerberus. The climbers on Cerberus are Lindsay and Lisa. They used the Catharsis Crack start and I was told it might be harder than rated.

Another look at Tantalus. Once all these dykes have bolts it will truly be a labyrinth.

Wow, thank you for all the superb photos!
My toes and fingers are twitching to balance on a slim line of hard stone. Don't know if I will again, but we will see . . .

Here is one dike, painted by one of Colorado's award winning artists . . . This is a painting by my ex and still good friend, whom I met in the Winds about a thousand years ago. :) But I don't recognize this (slightly sturdier) quartz (?) intrusion. Could be BC or Colorado.

We used to go visit places just to admire the rocks. I have always found dikes to open elegant possibilities for adventures on rock.

In the spirit of the season, Happy New Year, everyone. I hope you have each had a wonderful New Year Day. I have had a wonderful one here, in balmy Montana, where the snow is all melting.

Carry On,

Thanks for the explanation re:knobs BJ, that's cool man! I like how there is a bit of mystery there.

Some killer stuff too by everyone else, Tom, thanks for the link on karma. Super bad ass.

Andy, your photos never cease to amaze me, especially how many good ones you have of dyikes!

Perhaps not a dike, per se, but I've always been intrigued by this intrusion along the ridge west of Mount Baldy—which can be clearly seen from the Glendora Ridge Road...

New Years Eve at Mammoth Pools. Normal winters it's unlikely to be down there, but the last couple have been pretty bad. Only boat on the lake and the low water levels revealed some dykes.

Earlier I posted this
Now it looks like this
And

A couple of years ago I got just below the second little roof on the dyke pictured below. This wall isn't quite vertical, so if you are to fall you need to be pushing out to avoid hitting the rock. The higher you get the farther you need to clear. I was very tempted to do the couple last testing moves, but backed off and turned and jumped as far as I could, barely clearing the wall.
Here's some pics from that trip. The dyke above is actually to left of the roof, but same wall.

Justin, I have been down there, pretty rad with the low water level. Tons of perfect stone, though I got on some death grain slabs and did the turn and run.

Yeah Mucci, so much good stuff down there and the water at it's current level reveals even more. Too bad the water is so f*#kin cold right now. The turn and run? Ha you know what I'm talking about.

The Bear Flats trail crosses the top of that intrusion on the top of the ridge.

There's an interesting swimming pool like depression where it crosses the ridge.

I'm pretty sure the tungsten mine is in the canyon bottom below that intrusion also.
