Thanks. I was curious about the lack of snow at that elevation this time of year.

Nothing special about this shot but it was cool to be there. Hiking out of the San Rafael Swell, late today.

Lovely photo, mouse. Evening Moon or Morning Moon? Seems to be left/right reversed compared to the Moon above yours. Could be a hemisphere thing.

First attempts with Canon T3i and an 8" Meade. I need to increase the ISO and shutter speed the moon moves pretty quick. It was a chilly night and my hands were numb so I'll keep practicing.

The second shot is focused a bit better and the haze is not as thick. Same old 300mm lens cranked in as close as possible.
A balmy 58 degrees out on the Moussolini Balcony and no wind.

my ephemera for the lunar eclipse:
this is for Livermore, CA
times should be PDT
the bearing is "true" in degrees
the altitude is in degrees
the "departure from 180º" is the angular difference between the Earth-Sun line and the Earth-Moon line. The angular diameter of the Earth (from the Moon) is 1.9º and the Moon, 0.5º, so if the departure is less than the sum of these two, 2.4º, the Moon is being eclipsed by the Earth. When this value is minimum is the time of totality.
Have fun! I have to be in Berkeley all day and might not make it back to shoot the moon.

Set the alarm early last night-I thought the eclipse was Monday morning, not Monday night. D'oh.
Fingers crossed that late tonight/early tomorrow isn't completely cloudy like early this morning was.
