It is a big mess here. We've been lucky, but most haven't. Virtually everyone of our neighbors have flooded and some have lost vehicles. Lots of road damage. Bad.

BrassNuts went into Eldo yesterday and it's a big big mess. No telling how long until it opens again. The road is gone just past the Bastille. All gone. The stone wall across from the Bastille hangs in mid air (at least it was yesterday, may be gone today). Trails are gone/wrecked. Parking areas (e.g., Rattlesnake pkg area) are destroyed. It is a pile of big rocks.

Mud/Rock slides came down the mtn sides in Eldo. Looks like some homes will be condemned. Our friend's home is there, but most of their yard is gone - it is now a creek. Part of the fence to their yard hangs in mid-air. The stairs of the springs pool was a waterfall complete with tons of rocks yesterday. :/

Hope BN puts up some photos soon.

Hey Randisi, you're an a-hole. Stop spinning everything to suit your own negative personality. Maybe you should just STFU for once.
Sorry, had to get that out. The dude offers nothing positive.

Anyway, my thoughts go out to you all. It's almost beyond comprehension to imagine that volume of water in the front range.

Some people out playing.

I hope they realize that many of those creeks and rivers have changed dramatically.

You know it's bad when people on here who've had the crap kicked out them are saying how lucky they are when they see what's happened to others around them.

Good luck, guys!

Isn't that water contaminated with overflow sewage? If they are out for fun, then foolish indeed...

From the pictures on the Eldo page of Facebook, the boulder field immediately west of the Bastille slid. Anyone that has climbed Hair City or the W. Buttress of the Bastille will remember the huge rock that sat just up hill, about the size of 2-3 cars. It looks like that rock is now down at the road in the picture. Unbelievable.

One would think that it will be months before they open the park again. The landscape there seems to have totally changed.

I took a drive with my kids just to look around a little. There are many mud and rock slides on the hills above Boulder. One in particular, just south of Lee Hill Rd. looks like it may have run more than 500 vertical feet.

Exactly my thoughts WBW. Same for other places too. This reshaped the entire environment. BN is headed over shortly to help with a house in Eldo. It needs it. From what I've seen (and what we've been doing this week), helping neighbors and strangers is the norm. It is alive and well.

That scree west of the Bastille was always very unstable.

Hopefully this event will "settle" it, but I kind of doubt it. If there is a 2-3 car sized boulder on the road it will likely require blasting before a backhoe can clear it.

Still haven't heard from a friend in Boulder and another in Eldo.

those are Class V boaters running a river that they will never be able to run again unless they live to be 529,

they are also looking for booty in the eddies,

don't take a swim in that stuff, no place to get out without going thru brush and tree strainers,

surfing a wave in that crap is crazy with all the stuff in the water,

and there could be stuff wedged under the bridge,

got some footage of some crazies on the American near Kyburtz CA during the 1997-98 new years flood, one of the guys took a swim, getting his boat was a real pain for his partner,

The first pic is the road below our house as of noon today, the second is the same spot 24 hours ago. As of now there is a suggested evacuation in place, as they have one lane open down below to get off the mountain. We have filled up water containers for drinking & flushing toilets, have a gas stove, and enough food to ration for a while, so have opted to stick it out. 1 1/2-2" are predicted for tonight, but our upstairs neighbors will be joining us for a cookout tonight as we have more food than they do.

For everyone concerned, we are in a safe spot and not in any danger. I can't say the same for the deer or bunnies that keep crossing our yard should this go on later than expected.
