Good attendance, fun interactions, and some developing of awareness among climbers of the idea of building a small open but roofed structure next to Psyche Ledge to represent and showcase Squamish climbing.

Thanks to Jim and Perry for all the work organizing, and to everyone who came. Not to mention the bewildered passersby!
Someone left an orange extension cord there, which I found this morning and left with Perry. First it went on an outing.
Maybe more to follow.

Good to hang out with a bunch of cool people last night. Got to meet a bunch new ones and catch up with some familiar ones.

Interesting idea about a more permanent hang there.

Last night was a blast! Thanks to Jim Brennan for the fabulous hosting duties, and Perry for his behind the scenes magic to make it all happen.

I was flitting around like fly at camp 4, trying unsuccessfully to be a part of every single conversation happening. Of course i would need to be omnipotent to actually accomplish this impossible task.

Dean was remembering nights on the ledge fondly and told a story about waking up, soaked with moisture and covered in mosquitos.

"Why didn't we camp in tents??" Dean said.. Lol

I asked Tami this question and she said that no one they would have to take the tents down and there was no where secure hang them for the day while they went climbing!

Big Jim told me about the first mountain he climbed in Powell River, with a German fellow he'd met. He'd never climbed a mountain before, but he'd heard a local recluse had ascended his prize. This fellow was apparently quite the hermit who people were quite scared of.

He went to his house which had a high fenced perimeter with no trespassing signs everywhere. Jim wouldn't be dissuaded by a simple fence. He hopped over it and the gentleman in question was standing 10 feet away with a huge double sided axe in his hands, because he was chopping wood.

Jim quickly introduced himself and told him that he badly wanted to climb the Beartooth.

The gentleman's demeanour shifted immediately and softened considerably. "Well, you better come inside then son." He said.

The next day Jim was introduced to a visiting german climber who was in town to build a machine at the pulp mill!

What a start to an amazing, inspiring career!!

Andy, Caleb, and Nathan (soloclimber) talking shop.

Nathan said last night that he told his brother Caleb, who is a noob, that if he wanted to learn about Squamish he should read my thread.

I though that was pretty cool. Dean also asked me if i was responsible for the get together, i quickly gave credit to Perry for the party but Dean said he meant the whole scene coming together. I would love to take responsibility for that, but really it's Anders who lit the fire.. With this tomb.

Some of the pics are gone, but there is a ton of awesome stories in there. Well worth the read.

Great and funny pics, Mike!

You were a part of every conversation whether you were there or not. You are omnipresent.

A few more photos, but first, did anyone find my blue and white sunhat on Saturday evening? It seems to have gone missing again. Will trade for extension cord.

Thanks for the BBQ, the tables, and the set-up, Jim. Psyche Ledge back to life for an evening.

earlier

any resemblance?

When I zoomed in it was Caleb's hair that convinced me, but Nate's headband and Kyle's shirt help, too.

Jealous! So jealous here.

BrassNuts got to visit with and meet some many people I really respect and have wanted to meet for years! Not to mention those we've met who are always fun to see again (e.g., Mighty Hiker and Steve Grossman). Looks like a ton of fun.

Snowed and was cold - super rude of the weather! Glad your weather was perfect there. I know BN really enjoyed your climbing. We need to get back there soon and you need to get out to Boulder MH2! (He really does have an amazing assortment of shoes!)

I had fun, it's always nice to see a bunch of people from here, and often meet new ones. Cheers to all who organized it and made it happen.

Yeah Anders, I found that blue thing in my camp-loveseat when we were breaking things down. I wiped up some beer and stuff before I realized it was your hat. ;)

Another successful Psyche Ledge party. I had another real great time. The weather has been great three years in a row, not like that first bleak September I came up there.

Many cheers to all my good friends north of the border. The Shrooms made it that much better, and the Universe took notice as that meteorite streaked the sky. That did happen, right? It wasn't just the Shrooms was it?

It was also cool to finally meet Brassnuts. Heck of a guy.

And Tami, Jim told me that story, too. I was wondering if he was going to show and a bit later, viola! I always feel charmed in his company.

So, one of the best things about the Psyche Ledge parties is all the incredulous pad-people that walk through.

"What are you guys doing?"
"We're having a party."
"Wow, you got food and beer and music and sh#t."
"Yeah, come back and join us."
"Are you guys climbers?"
"well... yeah... kind of..."
"What is Psyche Ledge?"
"You are standing on it."
"Really?"
"This spot used to be where all the climbers camped and hung-out.The locals used to hang out up where the campground is now and burn tires. It wasn't safe for the climbers up there."
"Really?"
"Yeah, you don't know how good it was."
