Watching the Indiana/Heat game tonight.

Excellent all around game by Indiana.. Good passing, plays and proper paintwork.

Very solid Defense. Nice to see good basketball whooping on mediocre play by the Heat tonight.

Lebron is no Jordan. He did have a good game but just not the killer competitor that Jordan was. Jordan would have had some serious words for his teammates if they played like the Heat did tonight. Bulls didn't always win either but they always played well even in losses. Except for a few minutes here and there the Heat played crap ball in about every way tonight.

Depends if the Heat have enough talent to overcome their fundamental gameplay weaknesses. Or the will to dig deep and play real basketball.

Tough call. I'd say the Heat probably win in 6. The fact is they do know how to play correctly. Even if they usually are to lazy to do so.

I'm rooting for the Spurs just because I hate lazy overpaid incredibly talented teams.

OK that might apply to the spurs also.. damn I hate what has become of the NBA.

Good point climbski - the Pacers showed it could be done but they were too
inconsistent. Consistency is generally not lacking with the Spurs and they
are a really smart and well-coached team. I don't know if they have enough
muscle inside to keep Lebron and Wade out of the paint but if Splitter can
up his D then I think they can beat 'em. Parker and Ginobili should carve 'em up.
It will be a good series if the effing refs let 'em play. |-/

Heat don't have a good matchup for Duncan inside. But the Spurs, Duncan and the NBA rules have been going away from the inside game. Also counting on Duncan to carry the spurs has not generally worked well for whatever reason. Duncan just rarely seems to step up with killer desire to win at all cost. Parker does however.. should be a good series.

Climbski, I totally agree regarding the state of nba and rooting for spurs because they are lesser of two evils (or annoying realities if not evil) = go spurs, I guess.

Do really like ray Allen and tony Parker (and Reilly is dead on regarding SA coaching)

SA is playing some of the most brilliant smart and well executed Ball i have seen in years. Rope-a-dope steady paceing and matching to 5 minutes then pure execution of near perfect defense and offense.

Parker looking and acting like MJ.

Miami set the tempo of the game...until the 4 th quarter. Tony Parker MVP of Game 1. His last shot was what championships are made of. Oh yeah.

The Spurs bigs/team defense did okay (like a 4-0 sweep) against a couple other bigs recently.

JW, I stand happily chastized. Leonard played LeBron pretty damn well and
Timmy is just too damn crafty. Splitter made some good defensive plays too.
And why isn't that guy a climber?

Spurs in 6!

Cheers Reilly. Watching the game last night, the few times LBJ got into the paint he had at least 3 Spurs hanging on him. Evidently, Pop is willing to risk the outside shooters over James getting going inside.

Kenny Smith post game (raising his eyebrows): "The Spurs are Indiana, but with Tony Parker--I'm just saying. . .If I say anything else they'll call me a Heat-hater."

Likely, the Spurs won't miss as many open three's in coming games as they did in G1.

Wade was a shadow of himself for all but game 7 of the Pacer series. Last night was his best playoff game of 2013. Will that knee catch up to him in G2?

What a fantastic game.

Spoelstra made a tough call in the 3rd to rest James and Wade at the same time, just as the Heat were building a small lead. During that rest, the Heat went from being up by 7 and building a rhythm to being tied and playing scrappy ball, and it felt like momentum was shifting for the 4th quarter.

A volley of sloppy TO's and deflected passes in the 4th and the Heat were making mistakes that you can't make against a team like San Antonio.

Parker has received all of the press but Duncan is the player that kept SA in the mix every time that the Heat started to make a run.

Pop outcoached Spoelstra, which is likely to happen each game. Sitting Haslem and playing a small lineup made for an incredible game to watch, and the Heat outrebounded the Spurs, but something is going to have to change for the Heat in game 2.

Defense was the key to this game. Heat didn't play D very well and they were lucky the spurs came out shooting rusty and missing a lot of wide open shots. The heat NEVER controlled this game. They held a slight lead a long time due to Spurs rusty shooting especially Ginobli. If they hadn't been missing everyone would be talking about how the Spurs DOMINATED the whole game. Which in fact they did.

Timmy played excellent defense and got his shots when they mattered most. The crazy shot by Parker simply sealed an already won game.

However I do not expect to see it go so easily for the Spurs next game. it's hard to keep that much talent down.

I wonder though.. If the Spurs play as well as they did AND get their shooting back.. How much more can Miami do?
