The whole thread became disgusting.
As this one is.
I agree with the post upthread about the "troll" being based on real people/real issues. Thus, I do not see how it classifies as troll. The sickness was apparent. In some of the "visitors" and in some regulars here on Supertopo.
I am still waiting for Stinkeye to post up an example(s) of my text on the PTC thread that gets me put in the category of "participating in a skank-a-thon."
I would certainly not paint with a broad brush the guys of STopo who interacted in that thread, and I appreciate the smackdown a few of gave him for that post.
Some men here were MUCH crueler than ANY woman. And on the opposite end - some of the men here showed they are truly awful. NO MATTER what that woamn posted - no MATTER if she was joking and.or "just having fun" - there was some real evidence of what some really think of women. You post stuff like that about one - it is the way you perceive life in general.
And for the record, when I read the IHatePlastic booklet post, I thought someone had highjacked his account, intent on bombing the thread and making it unreadable.
IHP - I don't know that I have ever seen you credit images, but that is besides the point. Most of us can "tell" when an image is being used and not our own, regardless of the credit. We really only expect credit on what might be deemed "legitimate and relevant" images. A picture of someone leading a hideous pillar of ice, we'd expect the person either took the image(and if so notes who the climber is) or it is a picture of themself. To fail to clarify would be seen as someone intentionally trying to pass off as themselves, or their image.
Posting a "pony picture" we don't expect the person is the creator, and that the thing is a copy/paste. On most of those - the image has a credit to url as part of image anyway.
Text is similar. One might post a well-known quotation and not attribute - we get that; we know IHP did not think up something like "Ask Not for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee"(John Donne). But a more obscure bit of text... must be credited, or the plagiarizer gets what they deserve.
The proper thing to do would have simply been to write "Oops. It was "whomever." Instead, you got your back up. A bit strange, considering the person who pointed out it was not your words did not do so with any aggression.
And on a tangent with that - I have to wonder(but surely do not need to know) if IHP "plagiarizes" the many women he is posting suggestive images of. He implies that he has sexual experiences with them. Now - it is not all THAT unusual for people to have open marriages. I know several who do. But I don't know that they run round the internet pointing it out to every stranger who passes by. They tend to have a little more respect for the people they engage with, even IF those people are random strangers in a sex club.
I am pretty sure it is that sort of behavior that gave TTR the impression of "sexist pig" or whatever the term was.

Stich, you make a good point about the age demographics.
In my experience (so far, as a 26 yr old), the only time to obtain the coveted mid twenties "climber girlfriend" is to find a cool girl, introduce her to the sport, and hope she digs it as much as you do.
Or meet one at the gym.
Almost all the cool climbing chicks I've met are dating a dude who crushes 5.13R/X with a hangover. I just can't compete.
Maybe I should get really good at climbing offwidths.
edit: and Jaybro - the Lone Pine thing is basically that there are no girls at all here...

Again I think props are in order for that thread. It was weirdness.
PTC shared too much which is a modern disease and lost the game.
I think JFailing and PTC might make a good hookup: he’s age appropriate, hangs on the east side and has a Lonely Pines.
Anyway, I gots to see some boobage and I love me some titties, even if there itty bitty.

I think she must have run off to go bang Fred Becky. That Kiwi guy couldn't get the job done and it seemed like he couldn't find his dick with both hands and an inspection light. Fred knows how to make a pretty girl hum. He's probably riding her like a pony right now. So she's most likely too happi and busy to post.

Uhhh... really? Not sure how you read that into a posted pic.
I post pics that I consider works of art. The female form is, for the most part, a beautiful and compelling work of art. I will be the first to state there are some female forms that are not artistic in my eye but I do not waste time considering them.
Sexist and misogynist? No more than Michelangelo.
Perverted and disgusting? No more than Diane Arbus.
Now I know there will be those who do not see my point of view and that is fine. I am on this site to be with friends, read interesting threads (climbing and otherwise) and have some fun poking the ribs of those who have a limited sense of humor.

I can't imagine why on earth a person would snap this shot, then thank the model and leave. There's little artistic value in the image.

I follow the postings of I Hate Plastic pretty darn closely, also those of
Timid Top Rope and many others.
I will address one issue only. I think it is the wildest of projection to
think that he implies that he has sexual relations with any of the women
whose images he posts, other than his wife.
