S. Leeper, I'm down maybe 15 pounds in a little over two weeks..
I try to be as vegetation as possible with chicken and no fat or sugar.
Would love to go full paleolithic diet.
I sure do feel good....

You rock! Keep up the good work.

You pure vegans, get back to me in 5 years or so when those wicked B-12 deficiencies manifest and start wrecking your nervous system.

Dingus, I think you just have to look a little harder.
Nancy's has always marketed three yogurts of differing fatness.
Her (their?) honey Whole Milk yogurt has been treating me well since the
70s.
Trader Joe's is marketing some delicious yogurts that are apparently
(judging from flavor) pretty darn high in fat. Red/white container.

Somebody's trying to be as vegetation as possible?

I'm getting plenty of B12 from supplemented soy milk, cereal, and a vitamin I take everyday.

I'll try that Kefir Cheese, thanks.
I've been buying that brand of yogurt sometimes, but it's fairly low fat.
It's what I get if I need to buy in Los Banos (SaveMart).

Next time up on the Pass, I'll have to show you some of the other brands.

Funny ElCap, you are a walking myth machine.

39% of the US has low or deficient B12 status. Of course most of them eat meat. Meat has B12, but it also causes absorption problems.

B12 deficiency is so easy and cheap to take care of. Just get a methyl or hydroxocobalamin spray, or sublingual and take a couple times a week. That is the only supplement I take, as I don't eat any foods that are fortified.

When we lived close to the earth, that is growing or foraging for our own food, we got B12 from plants. Now that plant food and soil is so sterile(bacteria removed), we don't get much B12 from plants.

Yep, DMT, but meat eaters better consider taking B12 as well, since they have messed up absorption issues.

What else can you do, if you can't grow your own food?

BTW, the B12 in your body is in several forms, including methylcobalamin, so it's not like your taking something synthetic that's not in your body.

Monolith,
what do you think of taking b12 in pill form?

I'm fine with it, but spray or sublingual is better. Just don't take cyanocobalamin. But in any event, you should get a blood B12 test once a year, along with methylmalonic acid and homocysteine. One can have low B12 levels, but if mma or homocysteine is low, then no problem. One can also have normal B12 levels, but if mma or homocysteine is high, you may have a B12 problem.

That goes for all you meat eaters (and antibiotic users) as well, since there is a good chance you may have absorption issues!

Wow, fortified yeast and methyl or hydroxocobalamin sprays... sounds yummy!
I'll just stick to whole foods like eggs, meat, vegs, and a little dairy for my nutrition.

Omnivore allowed us to survive away from the equator and during times of climatic change. Plant foods allow us to thrive!

We can now make our choice almost where ever we live, but the farther north you get, the less choices(non grain) you have and the more expensive it is.

There's no religion in the China Study, DMT. Just pure statistical science. The less animal proteins you eat, the healthier you are. The more whole plant food you eat the healthier you are. No faith required.

Funny ElCap, you are a walking myth machine

Partner, I'd say what's funny is your hippie moon goddess babble.

You have told us not to listen to any MDs or actual professional nutritionists on the subject of nutrition because they don't know what they're talking about.

You have told us that it is a "myth" that eating huge quantities of fiber-rich whole veggies as the bulk of your diet will make you sh#t multiple times per day (in direct contrast to my, and many others' personal experiences with these diets).

You have told us that scientific evidence about fats in relation to nutrient absorption is meaningless, and that "plant power" is all we need to know.

You have told us that you "dumped all animal products, dumped all grains and cooked food and went all raw fruit, vegs, greens, nuts and seeds" yet you have to take supplemental B-12 because your diet is lacking.

You've told us that you get more Omega 3s through flax than those taking fish oils, yet seem to not understand that ALAs require conversion to EPA and DHA to be useful and the conversions are only about 2-15%, so you'd need to ingest 6-50 TIMES more to even be at par with the fish eaters and you force your body to work to convert them to useable forms.

You strike me as someone who bought into the latest hippie woo-woo sh#t whole-hog, and now think you're going to enlighten the uneducated masses. I don't do woo-woo hand waving, I do science. But have fun in your drum circle.

That book is a joke in the industry, I doubt you will find any nutritionist that would call that an objective study.
If you are really interested in edumacating yoself you need to start with the book that laid the foundation for nutrition.

Nutrition and Physical Degeneration: A Comparison of Primitive and Modern Diets and Their Effects - 1939
