I remember skiing with my buddies long ago and talking about the snow boarders.

These guys skied world cup.

Bad ass dudes.

They're in Europe and just skied some sick chute and if you blow it you die type run.

Just then they look up and some snow boarder comes screaming down shredding like never before seen ......

OOOH This thread transports me back to 1989.

Highschool.. Me and my gang of hardcorp Chugach randonee shredders (the BC bro's).. oh the days of making fun of snowboarders hiking a whole 100ft up some hill.

But our special nemesis was Telemarkers. Why the hell would someone want to use gear that sucks to ski on? Soft leather boots, ski's that dove to the bottom and faceplants galore.

Nordic Neds and Nancys... Granolas and Gorp eating imposters.. ahh we had names for em all...

AT rules.. all else drools.

Gawd we were annoying little dicks LOL

I think once Kirkwood does it, other resorts around Tahoe will see the light and ban snowboarding too. Seems like an upcoming trend.

Snowboarding is on its way out.
Right
It will be the resorts that will be on the way out, Alta is the exception.
I admit I held my daughters off from switching for a few years, till they were about twelve anyway.
But the first day riding the feeling that was missing , I had not even realized it was missing jumped out and took me back to surfing in the 60s / early 70s.
PS keep your moguls leave me the Pow Pow

I have never even once had a skier get in the family photo that I am poseing and grab their crotch. I have had knuckle draggers do that numerous times. most are totally fine normal people but the super cool group that identifys themselfs as hard core boarders can be a bunch of meatheads.

Spider person, look at skis, modern skis, and then look at snowboards.
Modern skis owe much to the knuckle draggers. You're welcome.

Sorry dude. I don't run "modern" skis. Rossi's, 195s, circa 1979, $3.99 from the local thrift shop.

I shred the moguls and float through the trees.

Anyone still have some Olins? I long for my old Olin Vs.

I'll leave the plankers to their bumps. I'll keep the 50 degree tree covered powder slopes for my Burton.

See you in the trees boys. Try to keep up, won't you?

In my OPINION...

in GENERAL...

"Snowboarders" are COOLER people all around...

LESS conservative and "Stuck up"...

JUST my OPINION...

I've never been knocked over in the lift line by a skier jumping the fence. But I have been knocked over a-la-Dominos-style by a snowboarder jumping the fence at the lift. The f*#ker didn't even apologize after knocking down 30-40 people.

I've never been knocked down by a skier on the runs, but I have been knocked down by snowboarders -- many, many times.

Your opinions are skewed and do not correlate with reality.

I think once Kirkwood does it, other resorts around Tahoe will see the light and ban snowboarding too. Seems like an upcoming trend.

Snowboarding is on its way out.

Oh, thank god.

DR F .. of course.. now that you guys got around to re-inventing Alpine gear you can shred with the best. Heavy plastic boots, Tight spring but technically "free heal" bindings with lateral stability. Mounted on FAT Alpine skis.

Still not seein the point though...

Better at recreational facial submersion. ;}

AT rules.. A light AT setup is at least as light as all but an actual 3pin true skinny setup.. which would be hard to call a tele setup these days.
