The main wall will most likely be in the range of 10 pitches give or take a few.

...so the Bird is a little salty, that's alright. Makes this thread more interesting, and he got the boys to cough up some decent pics.
I'm sure these photos don't quite do it justice, and how exhilarating to know that there are new lines to be had. I'm especially intrigued by the sweeping clean face to the right of the debris chute.

Still lots of cool rock in California besides the usual places. Just need to do a little exploring, and having a good 4x4 helps too.

Whats the kayaking potential for that river below? I'm sure it's been run before, it looks nice.

What's the kayaking like? You mean you haven't heard of Bald Rock Canyon??

Explored this wall in the late '70's. Never climbed the whole thing. Local legend had it, it was climbed by the old guard in the late 60's. What's up with the top down ascent?

Oh, Bald Rock? Yep heard of it but never did it. I started kayaking back before the Holbeck Stanley bible came out and Bald Rock was considered suicide, it's run pretty regularly these days, it would still be suicide for me though.

let's see here ...

"Bald Rock Dome is a 400 foot granite dome with climbs up to four pitches in length. Bald Rock Canyon is a huge, 2000 foot granitic slab dome. Both areas lie on National Forest land. Awesome views of the Feather River Canyon! Good bouldering can be found at the picnic area. First ascent of Bald Rock Canyon was Nelson and Rears in 1960. A great mountaineers climb with slab pitches interspersed with fourth class climbing."

sound familiar?

All this is true. I found all this information years ago during research. These walls are up river from the dome and anybody that has ever climbed at the dome would tell you that this place is not bald rick dome. Anymore than Washington column is part of the royal arches. Two very different rock formations. I have climbed the mountaineer route that you refer to... About 3000 feet down river from here. Many routes at the dome... Morracan roll... The grove... Burning giraffes... S.f. The dome is more like six to eight hundred feet tall.

that's an access issue the access fund won't be getting involved with.
