375 miles of Big Sky between East Glacier NP/St Mary Lake and Yellowstone West...no hop and a skip! From Sacto town to Jasper Alberta and home by way of Wyoming we drove 3,870 miles in 23 days, plus we hoofed about a fair bit as well. Best road trip and vacation the wife and I have had in our 35 years together.
Your desert romp looked starkly beautiful as well, Sir Mouse. Thought I'd share some of our three weeks in July when I saw your tunnel pic of what looks like Zion NP east entrance (crazy long tunnels there, if that's the shot?)

I'm not sure of directions out in the wide-open. I haven't a map handy.
No, wait, there's one I posted earlier, but Utah's not on it.
There were two tunnels on the entrance road, one right after the kiosks, then one named after Largo, apparently.
But wait! I've found another map which tells us that it was the east entrance, as you Sir Miced.I'm certainly impressed by your photos, "bushed man," let me say.

my latest theory is that this might be US fish and wildlife doing a fish survey conducted from the bowusing lights at night and a regulated electric shock delivered by that aluminum sphere suspended from that extendable boom, but my interest was the utilitarian designthe silt delivered to the upper reaches of lake powell is a substantial load.
the clarity of the water discharged from the depths of glen canyon dam is a revelation indeedand chilled all the way to pretty darn chilly!
