Cute summary, Cosmic. Except for leaving out who put the Shah in power: the CIA. Our government, elected by us, using our tax dollars. And SAVAK's habit of attaching jumper cables to the testicles of dissidents before they were executed.

The point is not that this sort of thing is justified. The point is that it is never justified.

The Daesh need a good spokesman, Spiny, to speak out for the justification of their actions.
You should volunteer. You would make a good Recruiting Officer.

You're a dishonest piece of sh#t, Cosmic.

Re-read what you just wrote. I wouldn't say that about you, because I have some semblance of self-respect. We disagree but I would not say that about you.

Re-read what you wrote and ask yourself if you are arguing in good faith.

Is that how your parents raised you?

Re: Philo's cartoon. Explaining why sh#t might come about is not the same as justifying it.
In my opinion killing civilians can never be justified, but that doesn't stop us when we're doing the killing. Damned cognitive dissonance...

^^^ exactly

Since you seem incapable of making the slightest effort here…

Treat people like rabid animals? Don't be surprised when they act like rabid animals.

To say that savagery is a predicable outcome of repulsive and inhuman foreign policy initiatives is not to justify that outcome. In fact it's the precise opposite of a justification. It says that not only does Daesh suck, but that specific US and European policy decisions over the last half century (by both left and right wing political actors) tilled the foul soil that allowed Daech to thrive. It says that we damned well had better give some thought to what we have wrought, lest we compound our policy errors and make the soil even more fertile for disaffected young men to be manipulated by homicidal loons.

That is what the cartoon is about.

Assume that only the most brain-dead, uncharitable interpretation was the intended one, you show — definitively — that you are not arguing in good faith.

This is spot on from my perspective.

Tell us all again how you are the worlds greatest lighting designer.

That was a real hoot...

So let me get this straight.

The POTUS and his Administration announced on Monday that States DO NOT have the legal authority to NOT accept any Syrian Refugee's into their states that the Federal Gov't has deemed must be allowed into this country.

BUT!!!

The POTUS and his Administration/DOJ condone and have persistently turned their heads for the past seven or so years towards States and their Cities that have deemed themselves "Sanctuary Cities" for Illegal Immigrants in total disobedience of Federal Immigration Laws that were passed and signed into law by the same POTUS.

Now, go figure that one out......

So Hermit Master since I never said that and since you are making reference to something I never said - that as an odd nonsequitar has no bearing on any topic or subject of this thread - the intent in the mentioning being a pathetic desire to take a catty slap at me perhaps you'd like to explain to all the nice folks why you are so desperate to give me a leg humping?

Spiny, I used to try and use real language when communicating my thoughts, feelings and perspectives on the forum topics I had interest in but fairly quickly realized that the difficulties with logic, reading comprehension and cognitive dissonance of the of the squeeky wheels made the effort uneccessary.
Cartoons! Cartoons are where it's at. What could possibly go wrong. ;-)

Speaking of illicit immigration: what if the Iroquois had transmitted syphilis and smallpox to the Pilgrims (and then, back to Europe), rather than the reverse?

philo,

You made the comment on the LED thread. I laughed at you when you said it. TGT even asked you some questions about it to see how much you really knew....

You didn't know sh#t...

Gee, I wonder how the real indigenous Buffalo felt before them Iroquois and all their brothers and sisters "immigrated" over here from the Siberian Peninsula.

Shsssssssssssssh....

The Chief thinks bison (not "buffalo") = people.

Or, perhaps he thinks that native Americans are not fully human?

In any case, it's an odd analogy. Maybe he will clarify.

No Spiny..

The Chief just rolls in total laughter at your insistent and unsustainable one sided ideological bullshet logic.

But by all means, do continue.

native Americans

BTW, the "bison" are true "native Americans". The Iroquois and all their brothers and sisters are NOT. They in fact also are "immigrants".

No HM I did not say what you credit me with. It is only what you want me to have said to justify your juvenile and sophmoric negative focus. I did discuss my approach to lighting design on Russ' moronic L.E.D. thread. But I'd never say anything as ridiculous as what you want to think. There are several posters here who waste no opportunity to spit at me because somewhere along the way I made them mad or made them cry. These fine folk always barf up the same absurdities at me. Which are you an annoymous coward I made mad or one I made cry?

Spiny Norman just in case you are new around here and wonder, in light of the noise from the mouth breathing knuckle draggers, if it is worth it in the long run I offer this true gem of ST.
Enjoy the Jello

You're incoherent, Chief.

Of course I am. Just as incoherent as this post I made up thread that you of course will avoid answering, "coherently"...

I wonder why the wingnuts conflate the Syrian refugees into the perpertrators of the Paris attacks?
I wonder if they have a point.
Besides the one at the top of their heads that is.

I have no need to defend every policy advocated or carried out by the POTUS.

Why would the Chief think I would?

I suspect it's because he's not bright enough to cope with even the slightest bit of nuance.
