Let's hope it doesn't come to that, but Boy Scouts will be prepared.
Tonight, Decker's missing. I'm thinking he took YARTS to Yosemite this morning and maybe got stranded due to road closures. Quien sabe?
Y'know it's only a short ways over the ridge from Hunter Valley to Bagby, relatively. If the fire should manage to jump the Merced, then the upslope on Schilling Ridge is a target and that is Jeff's back yard.

I have an appt. with a surgeon in Fresno this morning.

They will surgerize me in VA Fresno on the 31st, providing I can come up with a ride.
Everything cost more than $1.25 but they still went out of business.

She woke up to air so dense it was like fog, so she was happy to get away from Oakhurst for the day. This is a regular volunteer gig for her. Gotta love folks like that.
The CalFire Madera Ranger Unit is in the buildings on the left. It's likely deserted but for a Civil Defense truck.
Heck, I don't know if they still have that old thing, but that's the truck they sent to Raymond Station to replace our pumper rig in 1965 during the Watts riots. It had a bitchen water cannon and we took the rig out and played with it.
None of these rigs were clean. They've been busy.

I need my happy places.
RIP Roger Smith, who was one of the team, died on June 6. One of my formative years TV addictions.
And RIP Dina Merrill who passed in May. She played Calamity Jan in a Batman episode featuring Shame, the bloody bushwhacker, the redoubtable road agent, the conniving cowboy. She was the villain's GF.Robertson went from playing the heroic JFK to this.
I wasn't happy with him.

Here's sort of what happened to Decker the other night and why he was missing.
He did go to Yosemite and he did get "stranded." He had his bike with him, as always.
Long story short, he got home after midnight with two German tourists in tow. They were on the bus with him. Their car was stranded at the Yosemite Bug Hostel. They spent the night on his apartment floor after being introduced to The Vikings, which they watched for hours on DVD. Being a good host, he proffered his collection of cannabis vapes. He's not sure if they ever got to SF or got the car rental settled, but no news is good news.
The highlight of the trip was the two hour wait on the bus on Northside Drive to get to Pohono bridge due to road repair crews in that section. The driver of the bus he was on had said he was not going to be stranded in Yosemite, so he took the long way home via Oakhurst.
