poor Toronto

they are embarrassed to have Ford as their mayor

the city council has already voted to strip him of almost all his mayor type powers

they want to get rid of him right now but cannot, no legal way to remove him from office..

unless, he is convicted of a crime, which has not been

they are stuck with him

maybe they will give more consideration to who they vote for in the future.....naw...

Penguin chicks are dying as a direct consequence of climate change, according to new research.

Drenching rainstorms and extreme heat are killing the young birds in significant numbers.

The long-term study looked at climate impacts on the world's biggest colony of Magellanic penguins, over a 27-year period.

The research has been published in the journal Plos One.

They are turning their nests into swimming pools and they really don't like to be wet”

About 200,000 pairs of these penguins make their nests on the arid Punta Tombo peninsula in Argentina every year.

They reside there, in desert like conditions, from September until February to hatch their young.

However the life of a newborn chick is perilous, to say the least.

Downy death
They are too big for their parents to sit on top of and keep warm, but too young to have waterproof feathers.

As a result, they are particularly vulnerable to rainstorms. If they get drenched they usually die, despite the attentions of their despairing parents.

They can also succumb to extreme heat, as they can't cool off in the water like the others.

appears them P-Bears are doing what they and the other species on this planet do when there's a change.... they adapt and survive.

Normal SOP in the Natural realm here on planet earth. They do this instead of producing bullshet propaganda and think they can change their environment.

Good point because we know that not a single species have gone extinct due to human interaction or change in the climate. Just talk to you nearest dinosaur.

Would this be a good time to point out the species that are unable to adapt at the rate that is needed for them to survive?

As polar bears previous habitat erodes, where will they need to go to "adapt and survive?" Come on now, this was your theory, can you back it up with anything called a thought?

This chart shows the dramatic acceleration of species extinction
in the last 150 years, from a combination of loss of habitat and
other factors, including global warming, which can derive from and
contribute to environmental destruction. The rate of species extinction
is now estimated at 1,000 times higher than the normal background rate.

We have respite from the drought here at 5500 feet in the Pah Pah range of northern NV. Rained all night turning to snow, now with an accumulation of about 3 inches. What's the weather doing in the fellow west coasters neck of the woods?

We need more on the ground biologists and climatologists to conduct studies of the changing diets of the P-Bears. I'm sure they will welcome the influx of dinner guests. Remember-no guns allowed at the dinner table.

But as it all goes, you SCIENTISM freak can't leave the nature of things alone and now insist on bringing species back.

how many hundreds of thousands of years did it take for brown bears to evolve in polar bears?

does the present day polar bear have all those years to reverse evolve back to brown
before their species is wiped out by the melting arctic?

I don't know, am not an evolutionary anthropologist

any of you experts help me out on this one?

Good old science...

As have happened all the time on the earth. It is the norm. Animals kills each other. Animals are mean to each other.

I thought that your main philosophy were that everything are allowed. It is just how the world works.

A healthy economy is threatened species best insurance policy against extinction. This doesn't apply to P-Bears which are thriving with a growing population, but in Africa their are dozens of examples of species being driven to extinction from human populations desperate to put coin in pocket and food on the table. For a eye opening visual look at orbital pictures of the island of Hispaniola. On one side is a lush green tropical paradise of Dominican republic, on the other is the stripped bare dirt of Haiti. The difference is the competency/incompetency level of governance. The reason i bring this up is that we stand at a crossroads in this country. Down one road is the pseudo socialist cronyism represented by Europe with it's self crippling blind rush into big green and it's destruction of economies with little to no environmental benefit. Down the other road lies good old american crony capitalism whose trickle down economies have raised all spectrums of the populations living standards while delivering environmental benefits surpassing all other nations. We could be at the cusp of a great economic expansion as other nations manufacturers rush to our shore for the benefit of stable and cheap energy and labor. As the great 21st century philosopher Obama said in the SOTU-drill baby drill.

Phuuuuuuuule approves.

Any other of you SCIENTISM FREAKS here got the nuts to join Phuuuuuuuuuuule?

Not really, I just tried to think like you. The result of polluting the environment and the result of human behavior seems to be ok with you because you say that it has happen before. It is the norm according to you.

You seem to despair everything scientist do though and I really don't see the difference.

You are obviously ok with destroying the environment for species if it is done by cars, coal plants, agriculture and similar but it is not ok for scientists to try to solve the problems.

Why is it ok to extent species if it is done as a side effect of for example energy use. You claim it is the norm. Why don't you in the same way consider testing on animals the norm and thus ok?

Humans can of course change the environment and has done so in the same way as humans can be mean to animals.
