it’s hard to see how anyone who walks around with open eyes could believe in the blood-soaked dystopian vision Mr. Trump laid out.

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/25/opinion/delusions-of-chaos.html?_r=0

Yet there’s no question that many voters — including, almost surely, a majority of white men — will indeed buy into that vision.

I still think we should all panic and elect an authoritarian strongman who will protect us whiteys.

I was distressed by the revelation of the released emails from the DNC. DWS has to go. So do a number of other staffers at the DNC.

However, I'm also impressed that apparently none of the discussed actions against Bernie actually took place. There was no attempt to smear his religion.

I think it is emblematic of the things I've seen on the "inside" of a variety of organizations, where there is talk that you'd never want overheard....but which dead ends with the talking.

THAT SAID, the atmosphere which allowed this sort of talk to occur, is a failure of management, and requires changes, which are happening.

I'm also curious about the mechanics of how the emails were released, with the obviously intended timing.

What's the over/under on whether Debbie Wasserman Shultz "commits suicide" in the near future?

Any takers?

I hope she doesn't go down that road. But if she does, I bet it'll be two shots to the head.

This Reince Priebus (rnc chair) is something else. For those who have listened to him, have you ever heard more loaded languaging?

re: loaded languaging

I've got to admit before my 30-somethings - I was hardly aware of this type of discourse or dialoguing at all. Rather embarrassing, actually; where was my attention? Also apparently it took years to gain a useful, pragmatic sensitivity to it. Also embarrassing. (Then again, it also took years and years to build climbing techniques so there is some carryover to other subjects I suppose.) Now after all these years, as an older adult I guess, I am so sensitive to it, so attuned to it, I can usu tell where somebody's coming from (eg, D or R, C or L, R or L) within just a couple sentences.

Reading George Lakoff (Don't Think Like an Elephant) a few years back (more like ten now) probably furthered my awareness in this area. Still the mystery remains how, when I was younger, I could be so unaware of it, so unthinking about it.

I wish somehow this subject (phenomenon of language, communications) could be directly taught in public school w more emphasis, even as early as jr high. Somehow I graduaded 4 years of high school English with As entirely unaware of… I suppose we could call it... partisan propagandizing just as well (otherwise loaded messaging or loaded languaging as strategy) to promote agenda. An amazing phenomenon.

Anyways, this R Priebus operative (lol) sure has it down. He's a master.

Rather disappointed in Al Gore today.

As for timing, WikiLeaks is going to release the emails at the most effective time, regardless of where they got them from.

The Russian conspiracy theory is hilarious.

Yeah, and someone will go clean up her office and the only thing left will be a note that says "I did this, no one else. Washington is such an awful place ...I'm so depressed".

Or maybe they can just photocopy Vincent Foster's note. Nobody will notice....

Yes, Lakoff was an eye-opener for me, too. Brilliant analysis.
