hooblie has been kind enough to ask me to go road-trippin'.
We shall see you when that happens and not before.
Off to see the Wizard, we are on the road again.
Toodles,
MFM.

Aw sh#t, nita...I forgot to take my address book on the road, or we'd surely have come by this morning.
I spent my birthday evening in the town where I was born.

Hey, la.
Um-cha, um-cha.
In my ears, in my eyes.

I believe this is the Throwpie residence...his old Chevy truck was sitting around the corner. I relied on my superb sense of location, as my address book got left in Middle Earth.

This store is family-owned and operated for generations.

hooblie has spent much time up around Shelter Cove and was most enlightening with his stories. We dawdled a LOT.

Extended "Aha Moment."
There was no rush to leave.
There was no place to go.
We were here.
Actually, this stretch of road is the junction of Fort Ross Hill Road, which we followed from Caz, and the Meyers Grade Road, leading down into Fort Ross.
We followed it down into the clouds next morning.
We spent thi night, sipping a bit of spirit, gazing at the stars in their pristine glory on a very isolated rib of Fort Ross Road just below this spot, steep on both sides, and a tricky piece of road-making, we thought.
On one side, a steep plunge into God-knows-what, and CERTAIN DISMEMBERMENT followed by a hazardous carry-out. Or terminal PO, which is ten times worse. On the other, not so much PO.
But that was later.
This was now then, and we were sitting on top of the world.
Here is where many have no doubt sat to see the sun set.
Me & My Tommy McGee
See the sun, Tom? The sun is setting.
I see the sun setting, Jane.
Have you seen Spot, Tom?
I let him off the leash, Jane.
I wonder if Spot sees the sunset like we do, Tom.
Dogs see only in black and white, I've heard.
Would he see black spots or white spots, Tom?
STFU, Jane, and enjoy the moment, can't you?

Say "microclimate."
A bit later on the road down Meyers Grade...a no-go on account of the fog.

We knew better than to try camping out in the fog.
We found us a wide spot to turn around.
And we climbed back out of the dank, drizzly, cold and cat-footed shroud
without consulting a map (we had no maps--we're too macho for maps) to find a suitable bivvy.

The bivvy site on the road, where we could see for miles and miles.

The wonder stove uses the same principles as a jet-boil stove, but operates on wood chips, peanut shells, and faggots.
It recharges as it goes along, producing more energy to charge batteries, run a light, etc.
Pretty hot item.
