Do these flowers match?

My entry in the CV photo contest. Winner gets the photo on a billboard.

They spent a fortune on the sun panels on the bridge, but no cash to the winner?

Absorbing these stories from afar is like watching a dystopian, near-future disaster movie. Clearly civilization as we know it is doomed. Yet emails from family and friends sound surprisingly normal, chatting about kids’ soccer scores and home repairs. Occasionally they’ll throw in a casual reference to living in Mordor, the region occupied by the forces of evil in Lord of the Rings, or call the president “the Dark Lord,” a euphemism for Harry Potter’s archenemy, the villain-who-shall-not-be-named. In fact, many Americans deliberately avoid using the president’s name, like actors who won’t say the title of Shakespeare’s “Scottish Play” because of all the bad karma associated with it.

As the shades of night were falling over city, town, and bush.
From a slum in Bludger's Alley slunk the Captain of the Push...*
And with a long low whistle woke the echoes of The Rocks**
And a dozen ghouls came sloping round the corners of the blocks.
They saw nought to raise their anger, yet the oath that each one swore
Was less fit for publication than the one that went before,
For they spoke the gutter language with the easy flow that comes
To the kind that knew as children all the brothels and the slums
--this verse is a vulgarized version of the first two stanzas of "The Captain of the Push" from The Poetical Works of Henry Lawson.

*Push = Gang **The Rocks = Original settlement area of Sydney, OZ

Found a great little book today in the laundry room shelf. The Rocks Sydney is a small book of 60 pages (ISBN 0851790763) from the sixties.

It is full of drawings of the old original Sydney settlement called The Rocks, which was the home of goats who roamed freely up until someone decided to go "upscale." Olaf Ruhen was the author, with illustrations by Unk White. Both are native Kiwis but lived long in Sydney. Both must be RIP by now.

Their object was simple: record what the place was like before it was gentrified and rose high with condos and offices.

zB, I really like your flowers: they have a touch of the Samuri, as an emblem from one of the old Samuri banners.
I hope you win. That would be a lovely site for drivers to see. I would smile. I am, in fact, smiling at the thought.

Mouse, I see you are into hard-core compositional stuff. Very nice. :)
Day in studio, finally, mucking about in the porcelain, seeing how thin I can make this series 24 Fairy Worlds. I think they are all already sold, or at least commissioned.

My crutches are aluminium and some foam padding. No fun. My cane, which I will never burn, was made for me by Doug when I was recovering from 'the fall' years ago. It is a juniper root. I will try to post a photo of the cane next. This is an experiment.

Always nice to hear from you ff.

You have a nice way of adding perspective that sometimes is lacking in mine.
