I used to straddle a pipe bomb every day riding down the hill from campus. The danger of riding a fixee eventualy smacked me upside the head. I gave up the hipster death trap. The flip-flop hob on my Fuji got turned to the free wheel side and I added a front and rear brake. Nice ride in the background though.

I've thought about getting a fixed/free single-speed bike. Pretty sure I'd go with a brake.

I rode a brakeless, fixed, one-speed cycle today. Only one wheel though.

I have yet to crash mine, but being the accident prone person I am, I wouldnt rule it out as a future possibillity. The Bianchi in the background of that picture is just a single speed. My other bike has a flip flop hub and its sitting on the fixed side. Fixed gears can be kinda scary, but being able to stop without brakes is pretty fun.

fixed gears without brakes can be especially scary when you drop a chain...

I dont know where that is. I fell off a problem back in December and fractured something in my chest and didn't climb hardly at all up until about a month ago. Im lucky to make it up a gym grade V-3 right now.

Nice thread I haven't had time to post or even have a look at supertaco in a while. Although I've posted before I guess this is an official intro.
A couple of photos from Clyde Minaret last summer.
This route had been on my list for so long it felt so good to finally do it.

Mt. Woodson is a 6 hour drive from Sacramento (near Ramona, CA - NE of San Diego). Fun place if you're in the area, but save the road trip until you are ready to crank. Otherwise it could be an exercise in frustration.

Photo TR below if you want to check it out first:

that girl! i live an hour away from you, up the hill. if we both can go to woodson, which is in san diego, we should TOTALLY share gas... we could gizoogle-ize our conversation the whole way down :P drop me a line at stonetradition@hotmail.com if you want to get together sometime soon and chat about it - we could meet up in folsom and hang? you'd also be welcome to climb with me and my bud at the crg, we go there in the evenings sometimes... nice tats btw - i want a black star on my hip :)

"exercise in frustration" = story of my life....hahaha. I dont see myself driving 6+ hours to get there but if anyone has any trips planned around northern california, let me know. I'd really like to take some weekend trips to yosemite and do some bouldering or sport climbing. I have about 0% endurance right now being that Im still recovering from an injury so I'm not up for any extra long routes. I would also be super appreciative of some really good crack beta if I ever end up climbing with any of you crackheads out there.

Ok, now I feel like I owe this thread another picture to make up for all the non-picture filled posts about bikes and needing crack beta so here.....

I dont even know what this is but it had chalk on it so I gave it a try.....and by "try" I mean I got my feet off the ground for just long enough to think about making the first move.

ha ha ha me too! you don't even know. i know, i don't wanna go all the way down there just to climb - i just want to be with the people who are going to be there. you are totally welcome to join me and buddies at the cosumnes gorge on weekday evenings, and i'll let you know next time we all go out around tahoe :) seriously drop me a line if you wanna hang in folsom, i work out at a gym there so i am down there a few days a week (the other days i just go out around here). we should pair up and go bouldering around tahoe like at phantom spires and stuff. also we have the same haircut, only mine is grown out now cuz i've been too lazy to cut it!

p.s. my friend is having a party at slingshots in cameron park on saturday night. seriously i don't really like that bar but i'm going to support him - you're totally welcome to come up and bring friends if you want.

GoMZ--Nice photos of Clyde Minaret. How long did that hike take you? I've been wanting to do that thing for years.
