HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!

to Kim Schmitz, 69 years of age.

http://www.wyofile.com/blog/gifted-lucky-climber-learns-walk/

Idyll in C4, 1970.

I will never forget Kim telling me how he had been "haired-out" by some 5.7 moves that his GF Marti had led that afternoon. We were standing around listening to their artichokes cook in the pressure cooker on the Coleman.

Marti was gracious enough to say nothing. I probably said something inane. Kim was simply one of the nicest people with whom one could pass time. He gave advice when asked and there was no BS, no sand-bagging of the n00bs.

I've always appreciated that, Kim. Thanks.

Hey Mouse-
I'm back :-) - down with a summer flu and wanted to respond to a few things.

The little thing with Zbrown- just some good natured banter about college b ball.
If he knows anything about NCAA basketball, and he does, he knows that the difference between the U of A and ASU is a big deal, just like UCLA and USC, Duke and NC.
He didn't actually get under my skin, trolled me a tad.. and I hope our exchanges didn't ruffle your feathers as you indicated. I guess you had some other forum drama that I'm unaware of(?).

That being said, that I don't want to rock your boat, or your thread as it were...
But I have to respond to Gnome here, since he seems to come here to unload.

Gnome-
I told you to "take your homophobic bullsh!t somewhere else".
That's all.
I'm sorry if THAT got you butthurt but I have seen other posts of yours about not being tolerant of LGBT and to come across another in the Dead Head Thread irked me, so I told you to beat it.
To see you addressing me here, saying that what I said to you was "mean spirited" or whatever...
Dude.

And guess what?
Today is a day that you cannot escape the rainbow and its symbol of diversity and togetherness. Today the rainbow rules and it still stands for what it always stood for- beauty.

Whether it was on a family bus on the lot, or on a flag flying in front of an establishment that wants all to know that you're welcome there regardless of your sexual orientation- it means the same thing. It's a rainbow, a beautiful thing, just like equality, tolerance, acceptance, and forgiveness.

I know I may not be able to change peoples ideas or fears, those things are natural, and l have compassion for those that don't understand.
But I'll tell you what.
I'm an ally,
and will take every chance I can to let people know when they've said something public that is insensitive or bigoted to others because of their sexual or gender orientation.

That's all I wanted to say, and once again, Mouse- sorry if this harshes your mellow.

To offset that, I give to you some music. :-)

peace to all you dudes here

The only real Harsh I've ever been un-mellowed by is the death of the Indian fellow killed on the International Everest Expedition of 1971, Harsh Bahuguna.

That was a real rainbow show and a fore-runner of inclusiveness as a basis of our human society. It was not long after that rainbow flags just happened to start popping up here and there around Berkeley and other likely spots.

I appreciate your sentiments and I share the burden of responsiblilty to see that all men and women are included and not left out of this world's life.

Except we all know Whitey can't jump. Too bad, but that's the God's truth.

You are a gentleman and a photographer, Doc.

At last I've found the cranes from Nov. 2013.

They were on the older thread...all my picture gallery from around then became virus bait and disappeared when it was wiped.

From that photo.

I'm laughing. Very good one, Mouse. You have an amusing and wonderful way with word play. Today, a squadron of pelicans is gathered on the lake. Maybe 50 of them.

Thank you for the great plays on words. Stay cool.

zB, thank you for the Apple thought. If I had sidewalks, today I could fry an apple on the sidewalk. 102F here right now. Who sent this @#$%^&* heat? Fortunately, I have some cool rooms to keep the apples from frying.

It was zBrown's photo, not mine.

Credit should go where it is dew.

Another one from TimidTopRope's circle of friends, which has expanded and crossed over into mine, and in its Venn-diagrammatic way will expand further and intersect with several more circles of friends.
We are all raindrops with potential, dewdrops waiting for the sun, a lake waiting to form.

And then there are the waterfalls, "snow melted into music," as Ansel Adams suggested.

Throwpie, I'm not worried about your views,
for you are really a mellow fellow and an astute observer, simply put.

Thanks for the smile and chuckles over this pic.

And thank you, politicos, for your "understanding." Took ya long enough, though!

Political solutions to "moral issues" are often no more than sops, however.

Ah, excuse me zB, and thank you. :) Great wordsmithing play.

Thank you Mouse for the correction.
And I see you have shared more sky writing with other quills, nice. Very nice. :)

I really only stopped in to post this, something a friend sent to me. . .

JOHN YEATES was one of the First Flames!

He also attended Yosemite High (Continuation) School, as did The McAllister, though neither liked it.
Cowabunga that!

A buncha young idealistic progressive rock 'n' rollers from Merced seen pledging never to go to war...
including getting flamed by the apparent (but boring) crisis with Faroukistan.

Nice shot of the Yosemite Village People, Locker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Those who don't know Louis Howe very well sometimes see him as a gruff, abrupt, rude individual. Those who do know him very well sometimes see him in the same light."

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/features/biography/eleanor-howe/

Howe was said to look like a "medieval gnome." I'd take that as a compliment. Gnome is a stand-up guy, no matter his avoidance of photographers.

Thanks for that photo, Mouse. ^^^ Ah, The younger Flames, making wise decisions.

I needed a definition-
cow·a·bun·ga
ˌkou-əˈbəNGɡə/
exclamation informal used to express delight or satisfaction.

Yes, Cowabunga!

Good show.

I think Howe looks very haunted. A Haunted Howe. (I could not help myself.) :)

For all the "tards 'n' pards" in the audience...
and for THE MooseDrool himself.Get well and stay well, Andrzej, pard.

Progressive Party deplores the survival in our civilization of the barbaric system of warfare among nations with its enormous waste of resources even in time of peace, and the consequent impoverishment of the life of the toiling masses. We pledge the party to use its best endeavors to substitute judicial an other peaceful means of settling international differences.

We favor an international agreement for the limitation of naval forces. Pending such an agreement, and as the best means of preserving peace, we pledge ourselves to maintain for the present the policy of building two battleships a year.
