Pulmonary Plaudit
Prodded and pushed,
poked and pulled,
patched and put back to "pretty good"
by some of the prettiest
and politest people
on the planet,
I'm positively pleased
to pronounce my presence
back among you, my friends.
My knee's whacked from a lumpy mattress and I limped home from the bus stop.
But it's done for now. High blood pressure, congestive heart failure, these were the things treated, these were the main concerns of the medicos this trip...no pneumonia.
And along with the traditional "smoking of the nebulizer" for clearing the bronchi with albuterol, they gave me Mucinex, which helped a lot. They asked me what brought this on...I told them I didn't know, but suspected frozen dinners likely loaded with sodium, but then this one doc this morning said it was likely more water intake than my kidney could handle.
She reminded me that I must limit my TOTAL liquid intake to between 1.5 and 2.0 liters per day. That is the ration for a big wall, or was in my day.
"Quart and a half per man per day."--Cardinal rule of walls
Well, I've been exceeding that amount, I know. I just didn't quite realize the consequences were this dire. Learn something every day if you listen.
So I'm good, got some more sleep, and have a cheerful demeanor, despite the knee. I should have asked for an ice pack this morning...after all, it's a hospital and they're NURSES, who frankly should have suggested the ice instead of just giving me Tylenol. But I'm not complaining.
Keep the Parkers, Bushman, as I've read too many already. This one is a classic, a hard-boiled guy just like Guy Noir, and frankly, I don't like Chandler's style. It was an interesting read to see how Parker emulated it, though. And a good enough plot, I guess.
"We stood looking at this Cookie Cliff for a very long time, which, if it had been a dame, would have been mashing. But she had more lines than a party boat out of Half Moon Bay, I thought, and deserved the long gaze. Buddy, my rope boy, had a string of drool leading from his slack-jawed mouth to his chest. I casually slipped my hand down the front of my pants..."
"Back at the roost."

I've never been much of a rule follower, but sometimes you just gotta do it.
If you're restricted, then once they tell you, probably have to doit.
I won't relate my conversations with my mom who endured pretty much everything you have plussome.
Bless your wicked little heart sinner, fukkk big tobacco.
All the best and none of the worst, my friend!

Glad you're home in a gather, Mouse.
Boils Down to Manipulating Misconceptions
Winding down from the old bastard's party
With JD shots in the meadow
The brakes failed and the van jumped the curb
Deflecting off a boulder
The old barn was empty
Except for the hay bails
The booze might've saved me
But her sister, Catherine, wouldn't
Doth I protest but
The cold shots she gave froze me
And all the way down to Mariposa
As I sat dejectedly in the passenger seat
I caught nothing but hell
Wordlessly
I cannot warn you
Never retreat off the Captain
To stick around in the valley
Like a sailor's curse she'll scorn you
Other times the abject humiliation
Though protected by volumes of liquor
Would pass in a fortnight
But the big stone remains to haunt you
Lest you steal yourself from its view
But there's no reconciliation
Until you return
To pay all your dues
And cling to it again by nightfall

neebee,
I feel remarkably better this morning. My breathing's much better, the knee's not hurting so bad.
It really slowed me down last night. Had some trouble trying to stay asleep, but feel rested now.
I saw your newest volume of short stories on FB. I haven't quite finished those in the volume you sent. They're "pretty good," in the Minnesota sense, and I'm not a HUGE FAN of short stories, generally.
As a bookseller, neebee, I must tell you that the phrase "ISBN number" is an error. I'll leave you to figure that out.
Good luck with the new volume. Your stories are all "Jake with me."

hey there say, mouse... YEP in know...
International etc... (always forget the S-word, so i put the link, below)
B = book
N = number, :))
i DO this all the time, when i type (not when i talk, though,
thankfully) :(
*but THEN i have to 'add the NUMBER word' as: many folks
do not even know that books HAVE an ISBN, so then,
i am right back to saying:
"ISBN NUMBER for the book to order by, as it is assigned and ID'ed
am trying not to type that, but, i am so busy fixing backwards typing, :O
that THAT takes a back-seat, :))
say, the novels are really great!...
and the short-stories too (they usually go on as a full year
through the book) (kind of like it's own continuation of the
novels, as well, in a side-trail way)
all the short stories are based on the same character, and
far more better when one KNOWS the characters, though
the folks that have read them SO far, can still make sense of them
and enjoy them, ... say, i am so very glad
you are reading them and liking them, too!
thank you so much!
:)
glad you are feeling so much better,
you need a start for a good spring and summer, :)
