Good news JTM! I just checked in with the SCC website and RRK posted this:

Per his Dad from just a few minutes ago: Curt is out of surgery and in ICU. They removed lots of innards and tumors galore but the good news is (1) they completed the procedure after opening him (there was some concern that it could not be accomplished) and (2) he survived the procedure. According to his Dad there is now a 10 percent mortality rate associated with post-op. He is expected to be in ICU for several more days.

The Southeast Climbers' Coalition thread is at http://www.seclimbers.org/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=11196 It seems likely that more of Curt's friends frequent that site/forum, so perhaps it will be a good place to get news.
