I believe that at the Academy Awards, it is de rigueur to thank "all the little people". :-) :-) :-) Someone around here has personal experience, and perhaps can advise.

Wonderful pictures - each tells a nice story.

That Bachar and paparazzi shot has Erik Erikson on the far right edge. And a maybe on the top left edge of Alan Nelson (RIP) , with his famous Gilligan hat.

And a probable Mike Lechlinski to the left in the white long sleeve shirt.

Lynne, you were right all along! You nailed with the hat. There are about 4 guys wearing the same shorts. Must have been a figin uniform. Maybe they all called each other that morning?

Yes, I concur with Graham on the Waugh ID.

Waugh w/ hat:

Waugh in initial photo (enhanced) also w/ hat:
(plus, the sighnature Waugh beak...haha)

And the clincher, note the flaw at the bottom of the chalk bag,
...a small tuck in the fabric were the bottom is sewn on:

Bachar, at that time would have had one of two chalk bags:
One expertly crafted by Mari or perhaps an early ballistics model made in Graham's shop.
NEITHER craftspersons would produce such tripe.
(Waugh made his own bags, maybe at Wilderness Experience)

Good observations Roy, you don’t miss a detail.

Note that Powell has on the same shorts back somewhere in all these great shots.

We, (Ian Carter, Mike Brown, myself) taught Daryl Nakahira how to climb;....he was a tag-along, and he struggled with the 5.8s forever.....that is....until he started to climb with Dan and Co.......then he got good;...REAL good....we were psyched for him to be such a rad climber....but he got too good and wouldn't climb with us "weakling" climbers......he (and Dan) got real real strong......we still climbed our asses off, but we lifted the beer and the bong instead of weights.......and we stuck at 5.10+ FOREVER.....doomed to push the 5.10 stone up the steep incline forever, while the cool tasty grapes of the 5.11 were just out of reach;....sure we climbed 5.11's....alot of them....but we were always desperate on them, and never 100% confident or solid at the grade.....(36 years later......still stuck.....RATS!)...the pics are cool.....keep them coming;.....the dutchboy hair cut of KP is awesome.....Lynne....I'm almost done with school, then I have a week of Math "inservice" traing $750.00 extra ) then a 5 day trip to the Needles, THEN I'll be read to go to Idyllwild or Big Bear to climb with you anyday........end of the month.....so let's plan, OK?......maybe a day at suicide and a day at Tahquitz?.....

Yes! Vindication and Redemption!

Tarbuster you the man! Perry Mason has nothing on you. You are the sic detective. I spent years watching these guys climb. Mike even came to Dan's memorial. I was reasonably sure about his id.

Plus (my secret weapon)I am a leg afficianado. I love legs, men only of course. I could pick out Yannick Noah's legs from a cast of thousands.hahahaha

But back to this ID thing...
Lynne, we gotta get our ducks in a row on this thing,
Before Russ and JB try to come down on us just to make us look silly!
(You gotta know these guys... they'll conspire and pull that sort of stuff)

So here's more:

Note Bachar's PERLON chalk bag strap:

Waugh's WEBBING chalk bag strap:

Mike, you know by now I love the threads (as in clothes). All the guys did wear the same stuff back then. Reason is why you are in business.

The climbers bought what they could find that was reasonably comfortable and there was very little out there. Few sports clothing company's that climbers could use.

I know, cause Dan refused to shop. I bought most all his threads and shoes. He made a plaster cast of his foot and covered it with some plastic goo that dried as imitation skin. I got to take this to Nordstroms to buy his dress shoes.

He was a gun shop Cabelas man.
