Unexpected and evocative portrait, Sue. Does it come with a story?

well sort of but not really. i.e. not a long personal story with this one.
This is a technique called monoprinting that I've been using for some of my work, and I've been experimenting with using it for portraits. I paint on a sheet of sanded plexiglass with watercolor paints and let them dry and then transfer the paint to a sheet of watercolor paper which I've soaked. I like it because it really gives unexpected results.
I'm now at the point technically with it that I can pretty much dictate how the paint will transfer and I'm trying to see just how far I can push the technique in terms of detail. I really like patterns particularly Indian designs, so I'm working an a series of portraits of women that are painted with patterns. This is number 1 in the series.

Call it derivative, plagiarism, ready made, or whatever you want.
Just a shout out to the east coast traditionalists, from over here on the left coast. Go F#@K your mother! (I hope I make it to the gunks one day and enjoy it in decent style.)
