Nostalgic no doubt, but amazing it lasted as long as it did and what dumb f*#k at the time decided cutting a hole in it was a good idea.

It looks like we all got off lite this time, so far.

But, we are about due for a repeat of the great flood of 62', that's 1862. This event effected the entire west coast from Canada into northern Mexico and eastward to Idaho, Nevada, Utah. Some geologists studying it have determined the frequency to be less than a 1000 year event, more in the 100-200 year range. Could be a quick way to recharge the aquafer's with Lake California (300 miles by 30 miles) feeding it.

Was watching a big otter today in the Folsom South Canal overflow by the bike trail near my home in rural S/E Sacramento county.
Then this happened.
Three tumbling youngsters
Never noticed them around this area before.
I counted five otters total on the way back by.

Bishop has just been totally grim for a week. Poor little Matrix - between the intermittent snow and rain that would freeze solid- it was kinda entombed in ice... took forever to defrost and chisel it out of the ice shield two days ago..

Be careful what you hope for Guyman. Google Great Flood of 1862 and read the Scientific American article.

I figured there'd be a good storm thread on ST. Strong work lads.

I always wanted a pond but didn't expect I'd get one while still living in suburbia. I'm over all this rain. Enough all ready, or aim it more south.
