Cosmic.... was your Dad WW2? Or Korea?
I know you are a product of 29 palms. Where else was your family stationed??
My uncle was a slick pilot starting in Korea then Vietnam forever... between tours he was at Camp Pendleton.
Marines are Tough, the first to fight, willing to go all the way. I salute your Father for his service.

All good wishes. Rest and heal. Your body needs all its energy for healing, so try listening to some guided meditations for healing while you REST.
I hope the healing is swift, complete, and long-lasting. Be good to yourself.

Semper Fi, you old squeegie-wipe, just work slower and imagine you are on a climb. The mindset of climbing tends to make one extra careful.
Remember to take frequent breaks, wear a back brace when working--if you don't have one, why don't you? You're smart, so you probably do own one.
Since our talk yesterday I've been praying extra for you and the birds and your bride, who has to take your crankiness and keep your spirits up.
And use Davy Crockett's advice, too.
"Make sure you're right, then go ahead."
Some may argue that knowing what's right is impossible, like knowing the truth about anything. But you know what's right for you, no one else, just like knowing the "truth" of anything.
I think my own back has been having "sympathy pain." At least it's not terrible and it doesn't keep me from moving around, though it's highly annoying that it just comes and goes. I think maybe I'm at square one and haven't much more to say about that.
Good damn luck with whichever procedure you elect after the block, and may you find a briefcase stuffed with old twenties, rather than auction off your gear.

Welp, glad to hear the problem pinpointed. Now you can atleast concentrate on that section of the spline. I know you had an accident, but many back injuries are facilitated by weak stomach muscles. Strengthening the muscles around your problem area will help eleaviate gravitys pressure, and pain. Look around the interweb and find some good skeletal and muscle diagrams. Familiarize yourself with the specific muscles wrapping your column, and search out exercises isolating those. Another thing you can try, eliminating all the pressure a little bit every day. Hang upside down. For you I'd start at a 45 degree angle, set up a piece of plywood, or 2x12 and anchor your feet at the high end and let gravity stretch your back.
These two things can help tremendously, but you gotta become religious about it! Make up your mind to get BETTER, and you will!
I'll keep praying tho just in case;)

I'm looking at unavoidable surgery in probably a decade or less. T4-7.
