So 18 weeks and 6 hours ago I fell over.
Every day I pause to consider my amazing good luck.
I've gotten clearance from my cardiologist (and she checked with a cardiac surgeon) to go climbing!!
Very Carefully of course. I must be mindful of my surgical wounds, especially my possibly still mending sternum. I've had zero pains in over 3 weeks now.
I've done 3 full body gym workouts in the past month. Still doing cardiac rehab 3X week.
The great thing about the cardiac rehab is I wear a portable EKG throughout. There is always a nurse watching everyone's EKG and max heart rate on a computer. It's all recorded. I work a little harder every session and my max pulse rate has never gone over 130 which is what they figure is my max safe level. Evidence my body continues to restore itself.
This is an EXCELLENT program. (El Camino Hospital in Mt View)
I've still got 3 weeks to go before Medicare stops paying and I'll be on my own. I'm sure I'll be ready.
Next weekend I'm going with AAC friends up to Donner Summit and WILL climb, easy stuff at first.
I'm as excited as a kid anticipating Father Christmas!
Perhaps I'll see one or two of you there.
I thank everyone who's posted good wishes to me on this thread. I cannot adequately express how much that as eased my journey.

HT..glad to see you are doing well, welcome to the zipper club. I had double bypass over four years ago. Got right back on the horse and was climbing 5.12 ten weeks after surgery. I have travelled out of the country at least 12 times and driven into Mexico on six different occasions. Best of all is having the time with wife, children and grandchildren.
Everyday day is a gift and I really think I will be around for some time. If you are ever in the Taos area I would love to meet you and compare scars. :-)
