Do people really go to Buffalo for culture? I thought they went there because it's a cheap place to hold a conference.

I do selfishly revel in snow.

This storm is something different, peoples roofs are collapsing .

The forecast is for rain and 50's this weekend, that new weight with all of this snow.

Well I am hoping for the best.

Edit ; Actually,Buffalo ,outside of Pittsburgh,is probably my favorite city to hang in.[Here in the east]
Very Liberal.

People there know how to let their hair down.

Bitter winter conditions in Newcastle today! Chilly, foggy, drizzle drizzle, clearing, fog.

Made it to 60 this afternoon though, WOOT!

Clearer right now than it's been all day.

Wilbeer, that photo is just amazing!

It was cloudy here today in SoCal. I sure wish we'd get some rain!

It took a little while for the height of the humans vs the height of the snow, in the photo that Wilbeer posted, to sink in.

Holy Schist! That's a lot of snow!

It is kind of crazy, less than 70 miles away ,some friends were mountain biking in good dry conditions.

I know someone who grew up in Hamburg, NY (suburb of Buffalo).
She marred my friend from Alaska so she could move somewhere with better weather.

HaHaHa! That was a bona fide Freudian slip that is all too true,
at least if you talk to him.

I can't believe they moved the Bills' game to Detroit this Sunday.
What a bunch of woosies.

Im at Stonybrook university today visiting my daughter. Blustery and cool but none of that lake effect snow made it as far as Long Island. The seven feet of snow in Buffalo; now that would be a sight I haven't seen since my young days at Tahoe. Wonder how long it will taje them to dig out and get back to some semblance of normality?

From AP http://www.msn.com/en-us/weather/topstories/as-snow-ends-roof-collapses-floods-are-concerns/ar-BBeNeMr

Even for the Buffalo area — one of the snowiest and hardiest places in America — this was one for the history books. The three-day total is close to the nearly 8 feet that the region typically gets over an entire year.

Because the Buffalo area is so snowy, building codes require homes and businesses to be able to handle up to 50 pounds per square foot on their roofs, which would be about as heavy as a slab of concrete 4 inches thick, according to Mark Bajorek, a structural engineer.

As anyone who has ever shoveled snow knows, its weight depends in part on how wet or fluffy it is, not just on how deep it is. But Bajorek said some buildings may be close to that limit now, with more precipitation on the way.

I just found this link to a Jimmy Kimmel show from Jan 19, 2013, when Southern California had to endure cold temps. Pretty Funny to the rest of the country!

Thanks, Freetz. I don't know how cold it is up your way, but down here in sunny California it's not yet time to worry my plastic Jesus yet.
