I don't have much at all from "back in the day". But I have scrounged up two, one by complete chance.

I came by the first two Christmas' ago. Myself, spouse, and 2 kids went to the mountains of central Arizona to spend Christmas with my parents. My dad and I were out on the deck admiring the view of the Mogollon Rim, when my 2 kids (17 and 20) came out asking what the story is behind this photo grandma showed them of me looking like Jesus. I had no idea what they were talking about until they whipped this out on me.

In 1976, I purchased my first custom stick for $125, with color gloss and polish, cut laps, the whole deal. It was a 7'6" Rick James from San Clemente. Not the black base player btw. Note my old del Cannon blue tint behind on the fence in the background. I suppose I should put this in the hottest you ever looked thread too, because, well ...that was it for me. All down hill from there....

Next is early '80's looking down "Wall Street" on Picacho del Diablo (or La Encantada) in Baja California Norte. Was down there mapping some geology.

I know he was working for Stewart (got my first thruster from him 1980). He has (had?) a place out on the Ortega Hwy with a barn. Watched him shape a longboard for my brother in law while sharing beers with us in 30 min. Finished. Thing rides nice too. Takes me an hour on a goooood day.

Great shaper btw, even missing the thumb.

White pants, EBs and a swami belt ... who needs protection?

Same pitch, same day. John McManus fiddling with the stoppers on the lead. He was so stylish, sporting that custom leather upper addition on his EB's.

I returned from Oregon to my old haunt Tahquitz in 1974, sporting new PA's which I always thought were someone's idea on how to increase hospitalization, those shoes were like roller skates!!!

These are such great old photos!

Jefe is that YOU with the dreadlocks?!?

Here's my contribution for the day:

This is me leading something (I think the start of the 3rd pitch on the Free Blast, the thin traverse under the roof),

note the REI webbing harness (no padding at all - but it was a great improvement over the previous webbing tied around the waist), lack of helmet (horrors!), and Fires...
