Get it now?
An esoteric micro community and their ethics are a tad different than human rights and dignity.

He is a right wing, born again christian. What did you expect? He has a right to free speech ,his beliefs, and opinion So now you know where he stands. If you do not like it don't watch the program, buy Duck Commander products, or Ducky Dynasty merch.
And I'm sure that at another time, you would have said that if you don't like lynching blacks, don't buy white sheets.
but we purport to be civilized people, living in a modern society. To have people have a national stage to spew forth this sort of hate and misunderstanding of Jesus, and to say nothing about it, gives up those responsibilities of citizenship. The guy has the right to say whatever he wants. but so do the rest of us.

Him getting TKOed had absolutely nothing to do with climbing at all.
99.9% of people don't know the real history of that event .....

Mr. Robertson simply stated his opinion
Cragman, you are really lost. I know you don't care what I think, but, man, how can you believe this? You have read his comments. According to you, there are no workplace standards, any employee can express any deplorable, offensive opinion in a national publication, offend millions of people, and the employer has no right to reprimand their employee (he was suspended, not fired).
I am of the opinion, (yes, I know, you don't care), that you must mostly agree with him.

Sorry Dean.
I'm never looking at this god forsaken thread again.
I'd rather hold on to a shred of respect for you.

Cragman- I see it different. I grew up in the country, climbing trees or picking up rocks from our garden was my childhood. I was happy, never new the troubles that were in Washington. Now I am an adult and many folks on supertopo seem to view that as a bad thing.
I also grew up with many colored folks and we were best friends. This racial divide still hasn't started between the farmer/locals, it is still a city thing now.
Calling us ignorant and racist is hard to respond to because I don't see color when i shake a man's hand.

WBraun! Thanks for your thoughts on Cragman's reply: Now you're making up sh!t you know nothing about.
That appears to be where most of the butt-hurt whining on this thread comes from.
Since I don't watch Faux News, I have no real idea if they have brainwashed their minions to protest the fact that an American Corporation fired one of their employees for "screwing the Pooch."
What's up with that?

And what's with the "Mr. Robertson" ?
You never use "Mr." when using the president's name, but you refer to this guy like yer shining his boots.
Brilliant.

A little girl at our orphanage in Ecuador wasn't getting adopted because of the color of her skin. I never saw her as a little girl of color....I always saw her as another beautiful child that simply needed a family to love her.
I love the fact that now I get to see her as my beautiful daughter.
Would you have taken a young boy who wasn't getting adopted because he was gay into your family? Would you see him as your son?
Same deal. None of us had a choice about the color of our skin, and your view seems to be that because there's no choice, skin color doesn't matter.
So why can't you see the human inside the gay skin? There's no choice there either.

Cragman is channeling Rush Limbaugh almost word for word. The worst kind of mind control.
What is it with old white dudes? The downtrodden group that runs the world.

It's the anti-PC Police at work. As soon as they hear a righty was fired/demoted/reprimanded/criticized for saying something vulgar and reprehensible, the radar signal goes off and they instinctively rush to the defense, no matter the charge.
There is no shortage of people who rush in to profit. Hannity sees $$ signs and ratings, Palin sells book and Cruz gets political donations. They feed off this nonsense.
Cragman is just a willing accomplice.

O.K. I have been watching this show since two Thanksgivings ago when I was subjected to an A&E marathon in a cabin with my girlfriend's family. I can kind of relate it to a prior experience when I watched a 24 hour marathon of Dukes of Hazard which ended in some friends finding me on the sofa in a semi-catatonic state. All I could say was "Each episode left me feeling dumber and dumber"
A&E originally approached the Robertsons because they thought they were a bunch of dumb rednecks that could fufill the criterea of a reality program which includes conflict, drama, foul language etc. Once they found out these guys all had college educations, were devout christians, valued family values, etc. the network started to have second thoughts.
Then they discovered the Robertson's wacky Vietnam Vet Uncle named Si and the show took off from his antics and one-liners. Here is one of the sons Jase Robertson talking about how the show came about and the family's dislike of the entertainment industry and reality programming. If you really do not like the Robertsons skip to the 6:30 mark.[Click to View YouTube Video]
After the show became the #1 reality show on T.V. the Robertsons had some leverage to re-negotiate their contracts and to introduce more of their religious beliefs and an additional brother (who is a pastor) into the show.
Phil Robertson has been planning on leaving the show since July. http://www.today.com/entertainment/duck-dynasty-patriarch-phil-plans-leave-show-6C10765762 So basically this event has been a final attempt for him stick it to A&E.
I do not agree at all with Phil Robertson's views on homosexuality or race but I have found following the program and viewing it as part of the development of popular culture makes it truly interesting. Just for the pure fact that these guys are trying to throw a monkey wrench in reality TV.

Another interesting thing about the Robertson clan on the race front is that Willie the CEO of Duck Commander has an adopted bi-racial son. [Click to View YouTube Video]
In the video Willie's mother Kay can be heard referring to Asians as "Orientals" This might give a little more insight of people from her generation in Monroe Lousiana.

Don't fret, wingsters, the radical evangelical right will rally around the clever idiot from Louisiana, just like they did around that awful chicken stand, Chick-Whatever. He'll be back bigger than ever, giving the Walmart crowd a gaggle of redneck laughs. Hee Haw!!
