The line at Home Depot was easily 300 feet long when I got there to buy a pump at around 11 this morning. I'm now pumping the 10" of water out of my crawlspace, which almost exactly matches the amount of rain we've gotten in a couple of days. Even if we lose our furnace in the crawlspace, my family is so fortunate compared to many folks I heard talking in the line.
The kid across the street almost got swept away last night on 19th St. Water ripped the bumper off his van, and he just barely was able to get in his van and get out of there. This, at the end of my driveway.
There are 80 people that are unaccounted for in Boulder. The level of devestation to the entire area is unimaginable. And the forecast for Sunday is for a lot more rain.

Let's hope that these people just haven't checked in yet.
Clouding back up in Denver for a thunderstorm, maybe it'll just
pass us by.

Hmmm. Just got a flood alert till 8:30 tonight, on my phone, in Moab! The "source" of the Colorado River is La Poudre Pass, just east of RMNP.
Some of that rain water is gonna flow SW, right by or into Moab....

Nature, that's very generous of you. I heard plenty of generators up here while the power was out earlier today, but we got power back around 3pm and so far it remains on. Besides, we can only be accessed via Lee Hill Rd, and both ends are closed to all traffic. Presumably they are letting people on foot or bike out, but not back up.
BrassNuts, I'm anxious to see the Eldorado pics. A good friend of mine lives one minute's walk from the State Park gate, and he was working in Breckinridge when the rains hit. He couldn't get in to check his apartment and all its contents, and fears the worst. At least he is safe with another friend in Denver for the time being. He and I just climbed a couple lines in Eldo on Saturday and it was hot, dry, and a perfect day to share with a friend.

Best wishes to all the Boulder County and Larimer County friends and folks.
Having lived in that area for a number of years, I was nervous watching the various feeds that carried the information as it played out.

I just received the following via email:
Neighbors-
We know this has been a difficult situation for all of you, and we would like to thank you all for your patience and understanding. Please be assured that we are working as hard as we can to restore road access, utilities and some semblance of normal life to all of you. Many of our volunteer firefighters have had less than 6 hours of sleep since this disaster began, and county-wide and state-wide resources are stretched extremely thin. Our first priority is always life safety, and we are just now beginning to get on top of the backlog of extreme danger situations. What you can see from you home and/or media reports is the only the tip of the iceberg, as the most severe problems are in inaccessible locations.
Conditions have been changing extremely rapidly throughout this incident and continue to change. It has thus been very difficult to send out communications to you all that we have any confidence is accurate. Here is what we know right now, but please be advised that this can change with no notice. We continue to have new landslides and road collapses, so please be patient if conditions are different than what you have been told.
1) Emergency egress from Boulder Heights, Carriage Hills, Valley Lane, Wagon Wheel Gap, and Bow Mountain Road is not possible via any route at this time. If you have a life safety emergency, call 911 and we will try to get to you to help. Many of our firefighters are trapped inside the road collapses and have been working since this began to address issues in their area.
2) Emergency egress from North Cedarbrook and any of the roads that feeds is not possible due to a severe road collapse. This is a major road problem that we anticipate taking many days to repair, so we are working on alternative evacuation plans for this area.
3) Emergency egress from other areas of Pine Brook Hills is now possible via Linden Drive only. The most extreme road conditions are near the bottom of the hill, and we have just completed improving the road enough that we anticipate being able to allow vehicular egress for passenger cars in the morning. Do not evacuate until it is light, however.
4) The Bristlecone evacuation route to Sunshine Canyon that was in use this morning is now completely blocked due to a major road collapse.
5) Law enforcement is enforcing a complete roadblock on all roads leading into the district, so if you choose to evacuate, you will not be allowed to re-enter the district. There are no exceptions to this policy until further notice, and staff manning the roadblocks have no authority to over-ride this order.
6) The Pine Brook Water District is still operating and the water is safe to drink at this time. Press reports of problems with the dam are incorrect – there is not any problem with the dam and there never has been. There was a problem with a dam in Pinewood Springs, and this resulted in some incorrect reporting.
7) Xcel Energy crews are working to restore power in all areas, and have been able to turn a few areas back on already. We have numerous gas line ruptures and/or leaks, so gas service restoral will likey take longer.
8) While we are putting major efforts into restoring road access, we are also making backup plans to bring in food supplies and/or evacuate by alternate means, including the helicopters you have seen in the air today.
Thanks again for your understanding and remember that this information is subject to change with no notice.

I know they have good reason to enforce the no reentry after going out for a shopping cart of food for the kids, pets, and yourself because you could be a looter disguised as a local resident who purposely made a fake ID showing you live on the street.
Maybe some of the local stores might deliver to the police line or some friends could bring supplies and you could toss money over the cops heads
and food would be thrown back up? Don't forget the extra large frozen pizza needs to be frisbied over rather than thrown.

I was in that line at Home Depot when you got there. Home Depot arranged for a special shipment of about 1400 sump pumps to come from the manufacturer in Delavan, WI. The truck was supposed to be there at 6am, but being Wisconsinites, they stopped for a break along the way and the truck didn't get there until about noon.
I have my pump working non-stop and have managed to cut up and remove all my wet carpet and pad. The problem is that even after a day of no rain there is still significant water leaking into my basement. Hopefully, that will end in a day or two.
Everybody around me has water in their basement as well. That might be a bit of schadenfreude, but it is reassuring to know that it wasn't something I did that caused the flooding.

Epic, Bruce.
My son just moved to Boulder and has been camping out until his room opens up on the 15th (and the house is on high ground, he's in luck!). But naturally the road back to his tent became impassible.
He had a dramatic drive down to Denver to stay with a friend for the night.
Something about water coming over the hood of the car (Toyota Corolla, not the highest clearance...), electrical shorting out but the motor kept running! Seems like a convenient time to not be owning property....
