so romney took the money of central american warlords who were put in power by the US murdering their economic rivals... assisting them in setting up labor relations which make sweat shops look like club med
I doubt that's true, but are you willing to delve into Obama and his finances?

Look up the amount of food-stamp recipients, welfare compared to active workers.
 One step further and we may find a bit more about what really makes america the failed state that it is… That step?
Corporate unpaid taxes, corporate subsidies, unregulated Corporate greed.
Think a bit bigger blawrag. How about you ask your corporate leaders to be the great Americans you expect of all the rest of us: Ask them to pay their fair share in taxes, Ask them to ask less of their government then you ask of your government, Ask them to do what's right for America instead of what will get them paid the most money the quickest every quarter of every year - Just happens to be a slippery slope to the bottom - and it takes that rest of us with it.
Does shopping at walfart really make your life any better?

I know that wasn't directed at me, but I plead guilty to being pro-God. (the difference between the quote and my response reminds me of Steve Martin's "Atheists Don't Have No Songs" (". . . the 'he' is always lower case. . .").

I simultaneously plead guilty to being pro First Amendment and a disestablishmentarian concerning state religion. Like most other things, the state should keep its nose out of religion.

Insofar as religion harms no one, that's a reasonable view. But there were plenty of folks who once thought the state should keep it's nose of slavery, and plenty who now think the state should keep its nose out of the drug business. You can probably come up with a dozen other examples.
Bottom line is that if whatever religion I practice doesn't affect you, and vice versa, then fair enough. But when my religion affects you, or yours me, then what? Isn't that why we have "the state"?
However, I do believe the converse is a worthy goal: Religion should keep its nose out of the state.

Steve, Victor's wife and mine were pep girls together in high school, and their son and our daughter were classmates in the second graduating class at University High School in Fresno. Victor was a couple of classes behind my wife at Selma High School. He still farms in Selma, and is a pretty good guy despite being a 'furd (those associated with a Junior University on the Peninsula, for those uninitiated in Cal lore).
UHS is a charter high school with a curriculum that emphasizes music and rigor. Their PE included sessions at the local climbing gym, ultimate Frisbee, and various other non-traditional activities, although I understand that revisionists there took over to the extent that they now have a soccer team (my daughter graduated 8 years ago, so I lost touch somewhat.) Their test scores are very high, and exceedingly so given the socioeconomic status of the students' families. It was a school for misfits in more traditional systems, so many of my daughters' classmates reminded me of climbers I knew.

This is definitely THE whole motivation of the founding fathers to write The Constitution!!
America is becoming what the "originals" were running from.
i would LOVE to hear what each of you consider "faith in America" means.

As for Vicor, he is a sage. In history. Sowell in philosophy. You should apply to Hoover in Economics. You'd fit right in.

The Crusades? The Christian crusaders were at least as vicious as the Muslims. The Christian crusaders would slaughter at will.

And...
Organized religion (Christian, Islam, Judaism etc) is there for one purpose, to serve the leaders. IMO.
True humanity is gentleness, with or without religion. But IMO religion gives people an excuse, I suppose without religion humankind would find another excuse to persecute others, to take over lands, to take over riches.
Religion can also be beneficial, giving people hope. I had an aunt in Seattle that prayed so much, her cancer went into remission for years. But that is the power of the mind. To cling onto something, a belief.
