Oh man. I agree, protect the wild. But viewing platforms? Will the entire bank be closed to the wandering (even fisherwomen)?

Seems a bit heavy handed.

El Capitan Meadow Fence
Proposed Changes to Yosemite’s El Capitan Meadow I know many of you have a close connection with Yosemite, so I thought you would want to know about some proposed changes to El Capitan Meadow. In most of the proposed alternatives for the park service's Merced River Draft Management plan, fencing and signs would be installed to keep visitors from trampling the meadow.

Just a w few mornings ago I was laying in that meadow and thinking about how a fence and ranger might stop me from doing it in the future.

Next thing you know, they'll add bleacher seating and project a screen onto the side of el cap and charge admission for the next attempt to break the nose speed record.
