I'm with you on the first part of your last post, but the last line is where you seem to cross the line into paranoia. Communism may indeed remain present in several other countries, but it certainly isn't spreading wildly across the world, esp. in this country. I know you'll argue we're on a slippery slope these days, but that's just plain DrudgeDrivel®.

Ed,
if you want to take what I wrote as a personal affront, well, that just makes my point.
I'll delete that post, my previous posts, and eventually this post.
That action would really be a travisty…. Being one of the few putting it so clearly on this thread is what I see…
Leave it all up…. for posterity?
Is there such a thing on the world wide webs?

The socialist's idea of a society devoid of competition is artificial because even in the socialist states there is competition for power.
Animals should be treated as one's own children.
In America they kill their own children and eat them.
Thus they suffer continual wars which slaughter their children as karmic reaction.

This is why our particular form of governance is so hard to completely corrupt. You have a Constitution and 3 branches of gov't to get through.
Animals should be treated as one's own children.
Mostly...
In America they kill their own children and eat them.
C'mon. That is a little dramatic.
Thus they suffer continual wars which slaughter their children as karmic reaction.
So animals are off limits but living things like plants are cool to eat...and smoke?
Plants have no karmic retribution???

Talk of Socialism aside…..
Got me to thinking….
So, I'm in the middle of moving my money from a tobigtofail type banking institution to a much smaller local type banking institution… Something about storing my money locally so as to better benefit locals rather than some nameless faceless in Chicago or New York… They really don't need the money.
My thinking (delusional as it is) is that my community can benefit with all money held in smaller local banks rather than big conglomerates (they are in it for profit, right).
The other day I stopped by my new bank and deposited a refund check I had received. The refund was from my Insurance company. Seems I had overpaid one of the final payments. (Turns out, I had been misunderstanding my insurance for the last few years thinking that I was paying way more than I was actually being charged… In my mind I was paying double, turns out not so). I called my insure, got the scoop and headed to new bank to deposit the check.
Had a nice chat with the teller. Headed to the gas station to top off the tank.
As I pulled into the station there was a dude walking around the back of the place.
Only noticed because it was a walker, and not a driver, and I just take note of these things…
I went inside to pay cash. while there I checked a lotto ticket I had purchased less than 180 days ago. I asked the guy behind the counter "What are you gonna do if I'm a winner?"
The dude says "I don't know, but I would have to figure out a way to erase some surveillance video". We have a good laugh as I consider this not as a threat but a sign of a really quick and perfect wit.
I tell the cashier to have a safe new year and head out to fill up.
I start the gas flowing and do what people do when they visit the gas station… clean windows. I work on the windows that are the more unsightly, so rear and side window with the bird crap is it.
Thats when I see a dude approaching with a gas can. He gives me the obligatory story about just needing so little and could I help?
I listen and tell him the story is a good one but that I don't need to hear it in order to help. I reach into my pocket and pull out my wad (just visiting the bank I had picked up a bunch of twenties in order to make it through the next week (possibly 2) and peeled off a $10 spot.
I said "Here ya go, get a little extra."
His eyes get buggy. Praise comes my way. Blessings-o-plenty pour forth from human tar stained lips.
I tell him "I'm more of an Atheist and you don't have to tell me all that. Just one human to another. Nothing special. There may be a day when I come to you for help. I think I'm paying into a system that may pay off for me later. But wether it does or not doesn't really matter to me."
He tells me that Jesus saved his life and that's the reason for him being alive today.
He then asks if it would be ok to go across the street to get gas where its cheaper.
I tell him he has $10 in his hand and that he can do with it what he please.
Upon further review of situation I found the following to be true:
One was without and one was with.
One was doing something now so as to be pleasantly surprised at some time in the future and was unexpectedly surprised to receive more than expected.
One was delusional and the other realistic.
Which was which remains to be seen
I would liked to have said so much:
You're not alive because of any unseen deity, you're alive because your parents had sex, and you were given all that a human baby needs to in order to grow.
Blessings, as nice as they are, are not to be given out by humans as if they have god powers (I know "its just a figure of speech" or "its just being nice"; well if that is the case why enter a god or blessing into it?

Ironically, Jesus was like that original Commie. (Just not the Godless Marxist type)
To be in his community, you had to sell all your stuff and share everything communally. Giving heavily to the poor was a chief teaching, and there was no talk of only the "Deserving poor"
In fact he said, "how you treat the least among you, is how you treat me"
That's what it says in the Bible anyway, just sayin'
Peace

is this thread still ot?
For now, yes. The next crag that is stolen from the public because of eniviro-commie desires, that are usually baseless, it'll be back on-topic.
(Summit Rock is still under a year-round closure because of a single freakin' bird that isn't even rare in the Bay Area. And the fledglings are long departed from the nest)

Warbler, Healyje, and Bruce Morris agree with me in this case, Dr.F.
It ain't about the bird in this case. It's a power-grab.

So can I just rant about corporate America fuking with me????
**GREAT!
I WILL RANT!!
THANKS to ALL!**
Heidi bought us a 32" Vizio Flat-screen TV for our bedroom for Christmas.
Nice TV, set-up, was fine, everything works,----blah de blah.
However the VIZIO logo below the screen is lit all the time. I found out how to turn it off while watching TV, but it always defaults to ON, when the TV is off.
Went to Vizio website, and found info there that the always on Logo is a "diagnosic tool" and it turns red when the TV isn't working.
Duuuuuh. I know when the fuking TV ain't working.
I emailed my complaint to customer service, and did not hear back.
TV goes back to the store.
I warn ST members and everyone else i know.
And a big STFU to VIZIO for lighting up my bedroom at night, and raising my electric bill.
Schist Bluering!
and yer worried about the Commies taking our freedom!

Ha ha Fritz, I'm staring at a 32" Vizio right now!
May I suggest, black electrical tape?! Won't help with the electric bill, but will cut down on the light pollution.

so,
blue is all good with genocide and f*#king indians where and whenever they are found in society
as#@&%e
I don't remember saying I was down with that. Indians??? Isn't that a little outdated???
How about the more recent occurances on a much wider scale by your friends Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot? Are you down with the Nazi killing on Christians and Jews...just because?
You have to go back to Indians? You're not an as#@&%e, just a disengenuous fool.

It really blows me away what this administration gets away with. Both legally and from the media.
Why aren't members of Congress (other than Darell Issa) investigating the obvious power-grabs by these communists who make the Patriot Act actually look patriotic????
Are the Repubs in on this too?? We are screwed....
This post is officially on-topic, carry on...
Wave-rider on Hogsback (Lovers Leap). That was our high point. He bailed, then I went and bailed, and then we bailed.
(it was early in my run-out on tiny nuts leading like that days....)
