Gifts from the heart are the best, because, surprisingly, they end up revealing more about the recipient than than the giver. a kind of rohrsatch thing...
Though, 55 yr old divorced vegiterian non drinkers, have some perameters...

hey there say, lynne...

it is a kind of "step or leap" of faith...

*but some folks do send a list of a few "no no's"
as to allergies, etc...

but on the whole, it is just a way to say, bless you,
at this season, and a way for folks to see things
that they receive, IN A NEW LIGHT:

AS, like jaybro said, a chance to see what another
fellow-climber is like, in creative giving areas...

:)

you can do it... i really believe that you can...

With that sort of info it would be so much easier to send a targeted gift.

And...

Give me your supertopo name, real name, shipping address and any other special considerations like gender/allergies/crazy phobias/etc... =)

I pass along all the information I am given. I know no more about your recipient than you do.

I would also like to echo the sentiment that maybe you guys are over-thinking this a little bit and placing way too many expectations on yourselves and possibly others.

If this little event causes you stress, sleepless nights and worry then the whole point is lost. In my opinion, the idea is to share something, with someone else, that shows a little bit of you, and also some lightheartedness, joy and fun. A book, a funky t-shirt, a coffee mug, a beautiful photo you took and framed, a flask, a bottle of wine from a local winery; these are all simple things that show some love and don't really require too much money or foreknowledge of the recipient, but still get the point across of sharing something with someone else in the holiday spirit.

Oh, and a Bugatti works too. =)

Cheers

jaybro-

Cancelling the order from Ohio Steaks. Tough crowd.

It's all just for fun; that is the point. Don't take it so seriously. My past gifts made my day. Not for what the gift(s) were, but just that they took the time to think about me and we now have some connection.

Edit: One idea is to take one of your favorite mountain/climbing photos and frame it.

Neebee, "creative giving areas"....lol, that does not describe this gal. You on the other hand are gifted in this area. So.....Strider, johntp I am not losing any sleep other this at all. I have bigger fish to lose real sleep over :D I'll come up with something....guess I'm over thinking this. Cheers, lynnie

This is just friends who may have never met telling each other we have a common bond and are glad they are in this world. At least that is my take on it.

I wonder if more people don't sign up cause they don't know what they could gift if they received a person they never heard of. That's why I didn't sign on the past couple years. What could we do to allay any fears of gift finding or sending....????

I think if I get that stumped I'll just give a donation in their name to my favorite charity or Access Fund or something like that. Just kidding....kind of...sorta...could happen.

I have sent everyone who has signed up here an e mail to see if they might be interested in donating money to buy Strider a gift.

I have had quite a few responses, and some very generous donations.

So far, the TacoBelles have contributed more than the TacoDudes.

Anyone else gonna step up to the plate?

Please contact me off site if interested in contributing.

Bah humbug indeed Fatty....I suspect if you were organizing it you would only be sending out YOUR name to all the unsuspecting players! Yes evil indeed.

I hope I get your name....ummmm...could I have fun!

Imagine the cost of shipping all that coal to PhatTrad. Plus it'd have to be in time for Hannukah, wouldn't it?

Ha... for half a second I thought about this. I mean, sure, everyone would hate me and I could never show my face again but I would probably get a lot of cool stuff. haha. Of course, it would never happen...

As of right now, everyone who has signed up has been sent a confirmation email.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure you got this email. Emails go out pretty soon and I need to make sure everyone who has signed up can get my emails. I have 1 person already who says they did not get a confirm email, which I confirmed was already sent. It must have gotten blocked somehow by SPAM filtering. Please add:
supertoposanta (at) gmail (dot) com
to your safe sender's list in whatever email program you use.

Thanks
