Ah, Neebee, the open heart heals everything. Not just my open heart either. I am very happy to report that thanks to the generosity of two climbers, SCseagoat (Susan) and Ferretlegger (Michael), I will have a place to rest my weary head. I'll head up Friday. I'm not sure how I'll catch up with all of you, but I plan to attend evening events ... however, since it's easy to get distracted in Yosemite, I'll just say if you need to find me, call. I usually get good reception in the Valley. (559) 313-3437
I'm also looking for partners for easy climbs but mostly I just want to hang out with my people - you!
Thank you, Susan and Michael!

Hooray!

Glad to hear you will be there Sarah.

Trying to get some house chores done today (you can tell how well that is going by the fact I'm posting....)

After that, I am going to organize my trad and aid gear and get it packed up, in the off chance we get the time to climb some.

Leaving early Thursday, plan to be in the Valley to check in between 12-3.

Looking forward to this!

Sarah and others,

I am taking care of the camping now until I am too busy. Things change daily and I will do my best to work it out. There are still Crane Flat spaces and there are likely to be a couple more cancellations from the Valley.

Seems like a few people are bringing guitars/pipes/harps etc so I will bring my guitar as well. Would like to bring the 12 string but it's in need of some serious TLC and isn't sounding too good atm.

Ken, I hope I'm still on the list for Valley spots if they happen to open up?

Thanks again for all you're doing, looking forward to meeting you and shaking your hand Thursday.

I just managed to clear up some last-minute business that was threatening to keep me fro attending.
So, I'm leaving the ranch before noon this morning.
I'll be looking for a partner for some very easy climbing, cause I'm only 2 weeks post operative for a surgery. I can still probably do a bit of leading, though...

Fattrad--put me down as attending the tacofest. I'll be available for help either cooking, serving, cleanup, whatever. Politics? You betcha'.

Hey Brokedown...so glad things worked out. I look forward to seeing you! Last time I had no hair...a little bit now. Mike is up for some easier climbing...I'm probably only ready for easy stuff on Swan or the Apron. Annies Pantry maybe. You and Mike could get some stuff in. Where you staying? We are at Housekeeping but will be at the events and swinging by YellerP. Susan

I think those of us that want "easy" climbing...or at least those of us willing to admit it, should form our own climbing club. In my adult soccer league we call it the "Wheezers and Geezers". Susan

Ditto to the easy climbing. I will be bringing my aid gear, but I have a total of 5 pitches with it and still have no idea what I'm doing. Would be nice if someone would be willing to mentor me for a few pitches....on the Captain would be awesome. Edit to add...I would really like to climb to Sickle.

FT, I will bring a few stacks of plates to the fest. Will utensils be needed? I am going shopping tomorrow night for all the supplies, so let me know.

Vegas,

The climb to the Sickle is nice, but is also pretty busy this time of year. You don't want to be working on your systems there when there are multiple parties or if a NIAD tream comes smoking by.
I'm willing to bet that some of the folks on the ST remember some good practice aid routes that have almost been forgotten.
For what it's worth, I did my 2nd through 6th aid leads ever soloing to the Sickle. But it was 30+ years ago and in November. No traffic that day.

Vegas I agree with Barbarian. Some possibilities for you are La Escuela El Cap C1 , First Pitch of the P,O, Wall El Cap C1 . First Couple of pitches of Dihedrall Wall El Cap C2, Church Bowl area Church Bowl Tree C1 next to it is an A3 pitch but a little tricky if you have not done a lot of aid , Kor Aid Ladder Le Conte Boulder , Aid Route Swan Slab not great but not often used The list goes on

El Cap Tree. Goes clean now, I believe. Steep (overhanging), not perfect rock but not bad. Stunning 2 rope rap descent. Very seldom done.
Also the Fin to the left of Lower Falls. Actually a couple more in the Lower Falls amphitheater. Do them clean, obviously. However these are popular free climbs in summer because they're cooler.

Disclaimer, it's been a long time since I've done either ElCap Tree or the Fin.
