"All" conservatives are NOT ignorant,
The best example is Colin Powell, he is careful, factual, deliberate, and reasoned.
The wingnuts have a name for people like Colin Powell: RINO (Republican In Name Only)

Cool. I hit a homer!
But anyway, I don't agree that ignorance is the defining feature of the Republican Party. I have not seen your proof that this is, as you say, FACT. I don't think one can make claims like that without supporting evidence and expect to it to be taken as FACT.

John, I would really like to believe that.
But my take is that he has really low self esteem and Is desperate to be seen as more than he is.
His bragging is constant, near every post, he just can't stop it.
I wish he would just hurry up and grow up.
Talking about yourself endlessly is so nauseating to others.

See what I mean?
He can't stop talking about himself.
Pure undeserved ego.
Again, those that really DO have something to brag about, DON'T.
Grow up, please.

I actually get a kick out of Fattrad. I disagree with a hefty portion of his political perspectives, but I really think it's kind of funny how easily he gets people all whooped up. It's effortless on his part. And for the most part, he doesn't respond (or react) in kind. While I see many things differently than he does, at least he seems to "comfortably own" his perspectives. You know someone doesn't "comfortably own" theirs when they have to frantically assassinate the character of those who disagree with them.
(Edit: Fox News...case in point)

I will jump onboard the Fattrad love diversion.
He's quite the troll, we don't agree on several issues, but he's a generous and nice person. I look forward to lunch with him in November. Hopefully he'll bring a congressman with him. :)

I was raised in Texas. In South Texas. I was a very right wing intolerant conservative - both politically and socially. Actually I was really just uninformed and did as my parents did (and do).
Going to college changed my views in many significant ways. Seeing data and understanding great variation in life opportunities made a huge impression on me. Developing a love to dig in and really understand issues was huge for me too. And of course, doing the research myself, reading research literature and having an excellent community of really informed people has been invaluable. (Don't assume a monolith of thought in academia - it's just not the case happily). Oh, and the school of hard knocks has taught me a lot about intolerance. All painful lessons.
Now, there are still elements of my upbringing in me and that shouldn't be surprising. A finding in political science research is that on average people inherit their parental party identification. Obviously there is variation and I'm just one example of that.
My parents are still trying to figure out where they went wrong. No joke!

The left likes to blame Fox News for everything.
Blatant over generalization.
We also blame George Bush, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove.. etc..

Dissent and division are part of our inalienable rights as a Democracy
Fox news crosses the line by regularly promoting lies and distortions. Jon Stewart catches them all the time.
If a major news network publishes lies, that defeats democracy and creates the seeds for fascism.
If I can go on the news and call you terrorist or child molester, you're not going to have a chance cause people are sheep-like and never forget those lies, even when retracted later

Just because a lie is on TV doesn't mean you have to buy into it.
Watch defensively and you'll be OK. Won't you?
Don't let the guys on TV do your thinking for you.
I don't look at Fox News for the same reason I don't eat at Jack In The Box; I don't like it.
But others seem to like both Fox and Jack In The Box. Doesn't bother me.
